there has to be a rational explanation for this, r-right?

its a rock
Yeah actually. You can google it it seconds, really.
A documentary I watched stated that tour guides won't even bring tourists near it, point it out, or mention it altogether. This hasn't always been the case. It's something that's happened fairly recently.
What's the background on it
>>19202600
Could be that it started to get eroded quicker due to exposure to the elements. The basic gestalt behind these hieroglyphics is the same thing that happens when you try to ''mend'' the name of your ex-girlfriend to your current one that you had tattooed on your biceps, except your ex was Stacy and your current chick is named Barbara.

It's really hard if not impossible to overwrite stone reliefs without fucking them up.

This. It's two names layered over one another.

Giant weaponized megabees when?
Or do they mean GMOs?

I'm more concerned by the Blackhawk trying to behead that poor bird, frankly.

1) Past technology that is very, very similar to what we have now.
2) Our ancient ancestors were visited by a technologically advanced species with tech a lot like what we have now.
3) One or more of our ancestors had psychic abilities and saw the future but for us it's the present.

In case anyone interested in the counter argument as to why this is not a palimpsest.

It is a palimpsest, but the illusion is intentional.
>>19202599
that doesn't look anything like the picture
>>19202666
Interesting. This is one of those rare cases in /x/ where I believe there MAY be something going on. I always liked those ancient astronauts theories.
>>19202599
That doesn't explain anything.

Egyptians would use the same panel to write over different texts. Those helicopters and spaceships are just an overlay of multiple hieroglyphs

Basically, Ramesses II graffiti'd over his father, Seti I, name.
>>19203179
That doesn't appear to be the case imo, but of course I'm no expert.
Seems like deliberate symbols to me, but probably something like a sarcophagus, or an oil lamp, or some shit they used that we're just not familiar with, and that they would have known.
Regardless, I don't think they represent helicopters or spaceships.

Nope. It's just Earth's gaping asshole.

Nah...that's more like a zit.
Sub-Saharan Africa is more like Earth's gaping asshole.

>Pareidolia
Bullshit, Pareidolia is where you see patterns in random shapes and shadows, like this lava picture. The image we're looking at was deliberately carved by human beings.
>>19203521
Pareidolia applies to any fanciful sensory pattern interpretation regardless of whether it occurs in something manufactured or not, like seeing faces in car grills.
BTW, while the original carving is intentional, the subsequent damage to the plaster infill which produced the perceived pattern is not.
It's an old craigs list ad. Since the release of the XP-38 there just isn't any demand for the X-34 anymore.
