The issue is pretty much how we have to approach the default question of what if extraterrestrials AND extradimensional visitors both come at the same time. It'll be too hard for people to figure out and there will be a panic or anything. Once you start confusing one with the other it's difficult to undo the learned behavior. IF anything happens we could just get public awareness or just something to cut our chances with the risk of not having the public properly prepared. Could even get a new branch of the military out of this, you'll see about it, something called the space corps or whatever.
