If you want a specific answer, you have to be more specific. By world do you mean human civilization? If you mean the world as we know it, then yes. We're depleting resources at an alarming rate. There's anti-depressents in the water supply due to over-perscription here in the US. The next generation of people in first world countries are going to be useless due to not knowing how to do anything but interact with technology. This will mean a marked decline in infastructure upkeep- within a few generations we'll have trouble keeping the lights on, but by then a severely out of whack climate will have caused famine and displacement. This is the tip of the iceberg, really.

Before someone comes along saying that I'm being cynical and that "Life finds a way" or whatever, remember what thread you clicked on.
