When I was in elementary school, I was horribly afraid of the dark. The main reason why was because whenever I closed my bedroom door and turned off the lights, shadow like figures would appear and slowly move towards me. They would often make it as far as the edge of my bed and then stop. These things were easily 7-8 feet tall and they looked just like shadows of a human. They never touched me, they would just glide towards my bed and then disappear after a minute or two. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

From time to time I see these figures from the corner of my eye watching me. This actually started happening around 2-3 years ago, prior to that I have zero recollection of seeing these things.

Out of curiosity, how old were you when they started appearing? They stopped showing up to me when I was around 12.

When I was in elementary school, I was horribly afraid of the dark. The main reason why was that whenever I crossed a dark bedroom, I imagined countless shadowy hands reaching out from the floor to touch my feet and lower legs, as well as monstrous ones from under beds grasping at my ankles.
It was never a hallucination, just a compulsive visualization.

Yep you need an exorcism.
Some communities has some cheap alternatives like gypsy amulets, they work on shadow figures and vampire ghouls.
