At first I got nothing from listening to Untrue. But now it gives me weird emotional trips. Same goes for ALL of his other music too. Things I can't explain, it just takes me to a higher place. No other music can do it.

The musician, Burial, is really secretive and shy, and only a few pictures of him exist online. For a long time nobody even knew who he was. However he had done a few interviews, and he just sounds totally off his rockers with a really, REALLY in-depth insight into the world and how things tick. Just go read his FACT interview and you'll know what I'm talking about.

his fanbase is huge and really fucking devoted. I remember the boss of the label he's on talking about how he thought nobody would hear Untrue, but that it suddenly got a massive buzz straight away. Weird for an album coming from someone's who was anonymous at the time.

I'm starting to think Burial isn't even a musician, and is some sort of construct or entity designed to create advanced emotional energies in people. Or something like that.

Here's the weird part. There used to be a poster in the Burial subreddit called dscpl666 who kept going on about how there are 'extensions of Burial' all over the place like in the dark corners of music forums and on soundcloud, that Burial actually has lots and lots of 'secret aliases', and that Burial has figured out a way to connect to people through his music and create some sort of hive mind. He also kept linking Burial to discordianism.

I'm just not convinced about the facade of 'Burial'. It seems like Burial knows too much, his music is creepily emotional, for all I know 'William Emmanuel Bevan' doesn't exist, and I've never felt totally 'spiritual' about anything on this level before. Anyway I strongly advise you to go and listen to this album for yourself.

Am I in touch with some sort of higher, transcendental being or state when listening to Burial? How could Burial possibly be linked to discordianism?

Links to music??

Idk about "higher transcendental being" but yeah Burial is a god

Best description of this album is ''London in your headphones''. A lot of people might not 'get' this music if they have never visited London at night. You can literally hear samples of lighters, rain and noises from the underground sampled into the music.

What makes this album even greater was when it came out everyone was making pure electronic, linear dubstep. Burial just comes along and creates totally the opposite with off-beat garage style beats with natural wood sounding drums.

Oh boy do I miss old Burial.
>>
>>19187990
his newer music does it for me too desu.
>>
I miss good experimental dubstep, It took such a dive when the normies found it and nothing but shit party dubstep started coming out.

>A lot of people might not 'get' this music if they have never visited London at night
nyc does it for me, but to be fair his world building is so perfect you can 'get' into the setting of the music without ever having been to a city before.

You are onto something anon, when i was in the university , i got hold of a copy of his debut album, thought it was pretty good, but now that you mentioned , i actually have my doubts as how i ended up with that.

You see, i come from the third world country , so buying original cd , is a no no , and the guy who sold the cds , well he is a weird fucker, always around bad evil places, i had met the guy years again, and not a good vibe came from him, if you catch my drift.

i destroyed my music collection btw.
>>
I just put my ipod on shuffle and last night one of his songs came on, I was like oh yeah I remember this guy. And then listened to his album again, I couldn't tell you how I ended up with it though...

Time to time I come across music that give me very strange moods. I usually can't describe what I feel, the only thing I'm sure about nostalgia is always involved, but in a strange way, it's blurry, like I have broken memories from my past and that's mixed with something foreign, but still similar, like a previous life or something.
I remember listening to this album at a certain place, which is very important for me and full of good childhood memories. I prepared for sleep at a small cosy room, which has a view to an old segment of the city full of old flats from the socialist era. I listened to it half asleep, and had one of my strangest mood trip of all time then.

What about Aphex Twin?

Creepy as fuck, and I'm starting to think that this might be a sigil

Burial's music is a refuge for certain people. People who are naturally social, especially women, don't "get" his music and just think it's depressing. But Burial's music is actually a rage against the inhumanity of a twisted, unnatural world. It is for people who seek something intensely personal in solitude.
>>

The dark side of Burial is that the type of person he attracts is prone to fall to weakness and lust. The test of his music, then is to follow it out of the world you grew up in and find strength in something new, like religion or philosophy or occultism. Burial is a calling to individualism, a steward, but he is not the answer itself.
>>
>>19190150
Notice, the impulse of Burial, and likely some who listen to him, to remain hidden. The impulse NOT to seek fame or recognition, but to whisper from the shadows. This is a characteristic either of very timid people or very wise people. It is the mentality of those who shun the world and aspire to heaven.

All of these artists are fantastic, though I find that they all have a lot in common. A lot of the creepiness in their music comes from it being ambient electronic music, though Amon Tobin has more of a focus on jazz, which for him, takes on a form that resembles some Lynch stuff.

Some albums that make me feel an odd way and/or albums that I've heard people call, "haunted," or, "paranormal"
- Portishead - Portishead
- Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
- The Third Eye Foundation - You Guys Kill Me
- Current 93 - Thunder Perfect Mind
- Les Rallizes Denudes - Heavier Than a Death in the Family
- Sun Ra - Space Probe
- ░▒▓新しいデラックスライフ▓▒░ - ▣世界から解放され▣
- Tim Hecker - Radio Amor
- Ground Zero - Consume Red
- Diamanda Galas - Diamanda Galas
I'd put some metal, but there's so much that's intentionally paranormal themed that it's hard to define what truly feels like it connects beyond.

Keep em coming though! I think this is a very interesting topic to talk about.

I like Burial I have his albums.

I have very few musicians that I consider there works to be "spirtual" or "supernatural" but one I do that is fairly obscure is La Monte Young

He is the pioneer of Modern Drone music but his music is much more than that, I cant put it into words. Its like taking mushrooms and having a experience you cant explain .

Definitely Aphex Twin. Have you listened to the Field Day EP all the way through? He's rewiring our brains. No ordinary album, that one. The amount of repressed energies that EP brought out of my mind is astounding. I've listened to it at least 20 times, and I feel like I've aged several months faster than I would have otherwise.

Aphex Twin is much, much more than a genius.

This is quite insightful, I suppose in the end it's up to what the listener makes of it.
Btw OP, I have a screencap of a thread, supposedly an anon found Burial's facebook page including a picture.

La Monte Young is not obscure you fucking hipster.

yeah that's actually from his brother's facebook page. Only a few pics of Burial online I'm afraid!
