Can anyone recommend me some good sources (books I guess) on the practice of yoga?
Also, which type of yoga would you recommend to someone interested in enhancing focus and mental sharpness?

Kek wills it
Ashtanga Yoga, practiced they way you feel right.
Everyone yogas for different feels, depends on that platform from which you approach it.
Mental sharpness (whatever that is) will improve with simple breathing meditation but I'd stress the importance of breathing during yoga for your question

Nice trips, pepe yoga is the new fad?

Not sure if that's what i'm looking for. Ashtanga Yoga seams to be more of a core strength exercise.
I want to open up my chakras, including the third eye.

Yoga=yoke=unify
All yogas look like something on the outside, the (physical) body implies the subtle body just as light implies shadow.
Do you want one side overdeveloped?
The work, feels and joy from the not-just-core-strength exercises feed directly into the subtle body. Head to toe. Visualizations and body awareness help.
Speaking of visualizations, Yoga Nidra might be more up your alley. Its almost all Ajna feels with very little asana as I've experienced it.
