The way I see it, most spoken word spells could be written by a high schooler in poetry class. My questions are;
Can you write your own spells?
What goes into a good spell? Simply Prose and Rhyming?
What defines a spell's purpose? The text directly or simply the mage envisioning it?
Does any kind of ritual or enchanting have to take place before a written prose becomes a spell or is it all within the mage's mind and recital?
Does your spell have to be well known, practiced and believed by others to work?

Intent.

1: Yes
2: Intent, Will, Focus
3: You write a script then run it, much like computer programming, except magic. Energy, Frequency, Vibration comprise reality, you arrange these things in to the pattern you want and execute it
4: No, it's all props to facilitate and amplify answer #2
5: No, but it can either help or corrupt it
That's what you're referring to as magic, but without the spiritual bullshit on top.

These guys know what's up. When it comes to spellcraft, the words are usually, with some exceptions, only there to help you focus. You can fancy it up if that works for you. I prefer to keep it simple and to the point.
Who looks upon the word I write
Will see the spooky titty tonight
All those who wish for this the most
Will see the tits of a spooky ghost
