Sol Invictus was the leading cult and patron god of Rome during the later Roman Empire. A solar diety, Sol Invictus became the formal supreme god of the Roman pantheon in 274 AD through a decree of Emperor Aurelian whose mother was a priestess. Even after the official adoption of Christianity worship of Sol Invictus continued well into the 6th century and was the last serious classical roman pagan god.
There is much mystery surrounding Sol Invictus and there are many comparisons to it and Jesus. Some claim that the date of Christmas originated with one of Sol Invictus' celebrations.
There is much mystery to this ancient god and I was wondering what /x/ had to say about it. I always felt a strange vibe while researching this god, as if something was not right. What do you say?
When I was initiated into the Freemasons I thought I'd claim Sol Invictus as the supreme being I call to in times of peril and darkness, but I was advised not to.

In Symbolic Masonry, the yod has been replaced by the Letter "G". But in the high degrees it is retained, and within a triangle, thus constituting the symbol of Deity.
Yod, the Hebrew letter equivalent in sound to I or Y. It is the initial letter of the word Jehovah, the tetragrammaton, and hence was peculiarly sacred among the Talmudists.
Mithra is pretty cool. Jesus is also a solar archetype hence being a cool dude. The sun is very nice, bringing life and all. But it's also a great destroyer.
You can't be wrong by trusting a star.
