>"THE SUN IS BEHIND THE FUCKING TREES!!!"

No shit.

Why is it the same type of clouds are in front AND behind the sun/moon?

Your argument isn't new (even if you're fucking it up). The idea that "MUH SUN IS 2 BRIGHT 4 ANYTHING" doesn't hold weight.

Use visual logic: The SAME type of CLOUDS are both in front AND behind these orbs.
>>
>>19152947
What do you mean "OK wat"? The Earth is shaped like a sphere. When the sun shines on one side of it, that side is in day, and the other side is in night. If you could hypothetically observe different spots around the Earth, the "time" would change at different points as people were closer to sunset and sunrise. This is why, if you call someone who is in France while you are in Alaska, they may be just about going to sleep and quite angry you ruined their sleep while you're just chilling in the afternoon.

The sun revolving around a flat earth doesn't adequately explain this unless you create an arbitrarily convoluted model.
>>
>>19156747

>all clouds have the same density

Fucking genius you are m8, maybe you should bring this up to all the pilots and ask why nobody thought they should mention flying around a giant ball of fire.
>>
>>19156747
>The SAME type of CLOUDS are both in front AND behind these orbs.
No they're not. Some clouds are in front and others appear to be behind. The ones that appear to be behind the sun are sparser, thinner clouds and/or at a different distance from the other clouds enough such that they can appear to be behind rather than in front of the sun.

As far as I can see, something can't be behind and in front of something at the same time, so your saying that the same type of clouds are both in front and behind "these orbs" doesn't strike me as being quite right.

Because the human eye can only see so far. Earth is a flat plane that exists in the 3rd dimension which if observed from high enough will start to curve. However you will never ever see it as a ball because it just simply doesn't exist. The Heliocentric ball earth model is an invention of sun worshippers..
>>
>>19159123
>Because the human eye can only see so far.
Does the distance you can see change with relation to where you are on the Earth? If the same atmospheric conditions were in place, can you see the same distance from the north pole as you can from the southern rim?

First, why did you put North Pole in quotes? Are you denying that the Flat Earth has a center now?

Second, it doesn't matter on the specific location. In the same atmospheric conditions, can a human see the same distance from Topeka, Kansas as Kiev, Russia? Or any other two points on Earth?

Or to put in general terms:
>Does the distance you can see change with relation to where you are on the Earth?

If you're going to answer, please actually answer.

Assuming you're being genuine and not shilling for your local sun cult: if the conditions were exactly the same (elevation, clarity) then yes you would be able to see the same distance at both points. A better question is if you had a reeaaallly powerful telescope and aimed it at the earth rather than the skies how far would you be able to see?

I am neither genuine nor a shill. I am a contrarian. I poke holes in arguments and hope that it will get people to think deeper and fuller on their own conceptions. I asked a simple question to get you to stop being defensive and to start looking at your own thoughts. I ask a simple question to get simple answers, and then build on those answers.

Understand that I am not saying the stance you take in this argument is right or wrong. I don't care. I am purely looking at where the stance leads, and what further issues the proponents should look into.

Now the reason I ask is that according to this map - a map that is ubiquitously posted by FE proponents, and I have yet to see a serious alternative to - Portsmouth, New Hampshire (blue) should see the sun for much longer than Santiago, Chile (Red) during the Equinox. The Equinox is the time of year when the North and South Regions of the Earth receive the same amount of sunlight. The recorded times of sunrise, sunset, and the duration the daylight are for the Equinoxes in 2016 are below:

Santiago, Chile (33.4489° S, 70.6693° W)
20 March, 2016: Sunrise - 7:46am | Sunset - 7:52pm (12h6m44s)
22 September, 2016: Sunrise - 7:31am | Sunset - 7:39pm (12h7m58s)

Portsmouth, New Hampshire (43.0718° N, 70.7626° W)
20 March, 2016: Sunrise - 6:45am | Sunset - 6:55pm (12h10m28s)
22 September, 2016: Sunrise - 6:30am | Sunset - 6:39pm (12h8m38s)

Can you give me the sightlines for these two cities such that they see the sun for the same amount of time during these two days of the year on the Flat Earth map?
>>
>>19159722
Please note the hour discrepancy on the clock is due entirely to arbitrary notation. I.e. timezones.

Chile - despite being squarely in the UTC-5 part of the Earth, is officially UTC-4. Even with this, the main thing is the duration. It's geometry really. How can the tangents made with a circle and point outside the circle be the same distance as a line made from the circle and a point inside the circle (that isn't further away than the center of the circle, that is)?

What's cool about it is the way he is trying to solve the (fictional) problem of flattening a sphere. Basically, he's using intermediary steps. Triangles FTW.

>A spherical surface is divided into 96 triangular regions
>The divided regions are mapped on 96 regions on an inflated tetrahedron while it maintains their area ratios
>The divided regions on an inflated tetrahedron are flattened to be a tetrahedron while it maintains their area ratios
>A rectangular world map is obtained by cutting out the tetrahedron
>The obtained rectangular world map. It's aspect is sqrt(3) : 4

You could attempt the exercise I requested, or you could say "I cannot do that," or you could refuse to engage in which case your position looks incredibly weak.

>You're assuming I even believe the mainstream flat earth projection.
Oh no! No, not at all. I gave a clear reason as to why I am using that map.

>a map that is ubiquitously posted by FE proponents, and I have yet to see a serious alternative to

Do YOU have an alternative map of the Flat Earth? Will you share it with me? Can you show me on that map how this problem of the Equinox works?

>You want me reach a conclusion based on information you've given me.
No, I asked you to perform an exercise based on the information I've given you. Whether you reach a conclusion and what that conclusion will be is up to you. But only if you actually try to work with the info.

>How about you tell me what your take is, Mr. Contrarian?
I already did.

>I don't care. I am purely looking at where the stance leads, and what further issues the proponents should look into.

If you mean specifically the problem of the Equinox, I don't think the azimuthal projection can be an accurate depiction of the Earth. I think it is geometrically impossible.

I also think someone could see if a so-far unrecorded anomaly of light is causing this, but to add explanations for a single anomaly that also do nothing else is terrible science. I think if light bending were the cause, there would be other evidence of it, and anyone who is a proponent of such an idea should be spending every waking moment trying to find evidence of their supposition.
>>
>>19160806
Hotine's a nice one, but the point of the Authagraph is to give a similar shape while retaining accurate land mass shape and size ratios.

Obviously neither are suited for navigational purposes.

The really fun thing about the Authagraph is that since it is first projected onto a tetrahedron, the resulted cartography becomes a tesselation. It allows you to make lots of different maps just by putting the unfolded tetrahedron next to others and "cutting out" the map wherever you'd like (as long as you don't mind cutting some landmasses in half).
