The Middle Eastern/Mesopotamian area would certainly have known about the Asian subcontinent and its peoples and thoughts. Alexander the Great led an army through there and started that culture mixing 300 years earlier.

However, the Bible explicitly stated that doing good will not always bring you good, rather many will be called to suffer in order to test/strengthen their faith.
