Are there any real life myths/legends/religions that feature things that could be considered cosmic horror?

Do you mean to ask if there are ancient myths that tell of beings that resemble Lovecraftian monsters?
First thing that came to mind was the story of Marduk destroying Tiamat.

The Christian god is pretty eldritch if you just assume the "made in his image" thing is a lie and he actually doesn't care very much about his creation.
Ragnarok is pretty brutal, too.

The Norse creation myth is pretty brutal, Anon.
Spiritual entities in general. From hindu with thousands of hands to classical angels with hundreds of wings or eyes. Light reflected by individual perceptions...all power.
Concepts forming avatars to interact in dreams, ect.

You're an eldritch horror sleeping in Gehenna, and you're asking us this?

Christianity is pretty much one giant cosmic horror story if you look at it from the perspective a modern person would look at Greek mythology.

Gods in most religions could be seen as a cosmic horror/entity in some way. We often view the Greek gods for example as basically super-powered humanoids, but this is really just a facade. There is an ancient Greek myth (I can't remember which one) where one of Zeus's lovers demands that he show her his true form. Zeus refuses to do so at first claiming that if would kill her, but eventually he does and she is physically destroyed by the reveal. In a way this is similar to a Lovecraft story where mortals cannot mentally or physical handle the mere existence of beings so much greater than themselves.
The old hebrew descriptions of angles are pretty wacky, especially in Ezekiel and the apocryphal ascendancy books.

That would be Semele, anon. Hera, disguised as an old lady, told her that her lover is a god. Semele did not believed it and asked Zeus a boon. Zeus, eager to please her, swore on the river styx that he would fulfill her desire to his best. And what you've said happened.

Greek mythology is more interesting, however.

Greek culture is superior under any human point of view, even to our own, which is christian.
Capitalism with its prometheic bullshit is christian.
Most gods to some extent, since lovecrafts works were largely a work showing his discontent for organized religion.
