The fact that people are still bitching in the Krishna thread but ignoring this one is mind-boggling to me. Why do people intentionally shit up their own site? Anyways, while reading through the gita I have begun to chant the gayatri mantra. What other rituals can I include in my daily life as I grow in my understanding of hinduism.

Doing rituals won't make you understand shit. If you want to grow in your understanding of Hinduism, you'll have to actually read and talk to Hindus. Chanting a mantra isn't going to magically deliver knowledge of Hinduism to you. And unless you plan to be a hare krishna, I suggest you read the entire mahabarata and other texts rather than just the bhahavad gita. Because the gita is not like a Hindu bible.

There is an Indian fable about two sons massaging the legs of their father. Each declares their technique best. They then begin striking the leg the other son is massaging to damage their opponent's success. All the while the father is crying out in pain.

I know that just doing something with no understanding or knowledge is fruitless. I was a Christian for a large portion of my life before now and often saw people taking part without knowing the true reason why and thus gaining nothing. What I meant was are there any ways for one to become closer to the Supreme along with the readings.
