I liken my interest in the occult more to an anthropologist researching ritual behavior. "Magick" would just be absurd for me to say, as only certain modern practitioners use the phrase. For a fair chunk of history, literature was fine using "magic" to refer to legitimate practice.

Admittedly I'm new to Afro-Caribbean faiths, and I actually stumbled into the correct use of Vodou because I thought it the "safe" option, but it seems I was right to use it. The loas of Hatian Vodou appear to have been replaced with Catholic saints in Louisiana's Voodoo. So if you were to try and look for Papa Legba in Voodoo, you'd be SOL.
