From a rational point of view demons, ghosts or whatever would be 4th dimensional beings. If we take into account that feelings and personalities are an illusion formed in the brain via chemicals, these beings would lack them.

This points to the possibility of (in case they exist) 4th dimensional beings acting the way they act depending on who they're communicating with, copying the "essence" of someone's personality, or at least being highly influenced by it.
