What is the yellow king?
>>19092334
An interpretation of a human archetype. Possibly powerful. Probably part of the Brotherhood of the Yellow Serpent. But mostly just what was going to happen eventually anyways.
>>19092334
A character in a Lovecraft fanfiction.
>>19092334
An allegory for madness. To speak the name of The King In Yellow is to invite that madness into your mind.
Can i summon him? Does he live in Carcossa? Do i have to be insane to actually see him/ it?
>>19092334
Beer, of course.
>>19092334
Horror from the mind of Lovecraft
>>19092363
Kinda right, but still wrong.
>>19092985
Might want to fact check before flaunting your trip again
Ambrose Bierce boys. A story ivolving an entity that would later be a one off line in an H. P. Lovecraft story as a nod to the story. Robert W. Chambers, knowing nothing of the first story took the what he believed to be original name of a character his friend made before dying and decided to expand on the character with his own ideas.

Apologies! It kinda is right down Lovecraft's alley.
Let's not talk about the king in yellow. The only thing we need is another tulpa running amok in /pol/ (and fuck you, the king would be a very very bad tulpa to begin with)
>>19093112
Let's do it. Sprinkle a little more madness and chaos on the world and watch it burn.
>vast interweaving web of conspiracy created by one man backed by a seemingly extremely powerful unknown entity that has already shown his ability to influence the minds and reality of humans
>an angry cat destroys this
let's be honest here, repairer of reputations was only okay, and the rest of the short stories sucked.
>>19093124
>>19093112
You made me cringe. It's from a Lovecraft book for fuck's sake.
>>19093294
>lovecraft book
Donald Trump
>>19093296
Whatever. It's in the same circle of fantasy writers. Don't make me believe you knew about the King in Yellow before knowing Lovecraft.
>>19093124
>Sprinkle a little more madness and chaos on the world and watch it burn
>Hastur
>chaos
Damn it you turd. Know your fictional gods better. Even catholics know more about their god than you.
Nyarlathotep is what you'd want to bring to the world. Maybe even Azathoth or Yog-Sothoth, but even Yogi itself wouldn't quite create chaos and would merely just blink us out of existence without a thought.
>>19093335
The chaos would simply be a symptom of the madness; it's just kind of how humans act when they're around a being of such indescribable splendor.
>>19093312
Shut the fuck up, Donny. You can't take credit for everything.
/x/ knows better than disregard it as fictional - where is the proof? How can i get to Carcossa? Is there a gateway?
>>19093294
Get out faggots, read the fucking book first
>>19093313
Merica education right there
>>19093098
>Ambrose Bierce
This is new to me. I knew Chambers though. The earlier stories in The King in Yellow were better IMO - I lost interest, the further they got from the bizarre ramifications of having read the play.
>>19093296
Thanks m8.
>>19093313
>Whatever. It's in the same circle of fantasy writers.
"Close enough" is not a valid defense.
>Don't make me believe you knew about the King in Yellow before knowing Lovecraft.
I knew the character from the Chambers book before Lovecraft, at least. Helps that I read it first.
>>19092334
Hyper Penis.
D A M A G E C O N T R O L
What the fuck /x i know you guys know sonething
Please
Can anyone help me?
I cant spend another night seeing it my dreams...i ve red the book and all trying to find some answers...it was there, yesterday at night. In the fucking hallway.
Please help

yellow represents fear, or glory if you can get through it.
Basically, everyone wants to be the yellow king, but no one is insane enough to achieve it.
>>19093294
>>19092985
>>19092363
>Lovecraft
>>19092980
Because American beer is piss? Kek.
>What do sex in a canoe and American beer have in common? They're both fucking close to water.
>>19094192
>read the book
No you haven't, if you read the actual book you'd be mad fucked. Drink some tea and clam down.
>>19094206
Read >>19093110 fag.
And still it's VERY similar in a way.
>>19094200
So i'm the yellow king? Thats why the face of the figure is always concealed?
Als what can you tell me (if you know) about the last king of America? I know its a story from the same book, but anyone knows the meaning behind it?
>>19094243
you. fucking. wish.
but inevitably yes. so let that future pain marinate on your baby soul. You will be eternally fucked, and at that point you wont even give a damn about happiness, and when that happiness does come, it will be worse than any torture you've ever faced.
the yellow path is hell, the yellow path is salvation.
>>19092334
More like yellow queen
>>19094265
Will i be all powerful? Will i be consumed as if i never existed?
The King in Yellow predates Lovecraft. Lovecraft's work was Robert Chambers fanfiction, not the other way around.
Also, I'm pretty sure Chambers loathed HPL.
>>19094224
Not the Actual book - the popular version- does the other even exist?
>>19094219
who are you quoting?
>>19094293
Fag opinions
>>19094316
Those weren't statements of opinions.
I admit I could be confusing Chambers with another author HPL admired.
>>19094286
Who knows the mind of Baphomet? The sum of the universe. The good and the bad. When one is put in the position of having to choose a path, the yellow is most divine, and the most hollow. You need to realize the situation that made you choose such a fate, when so many break free.
This is not a holy choice, but under the circumstances, this undertaking is the most honorable.
>>19092968
Its a fictional character dumbo
Hey guys fun fact I've found about Lovecraft/Chambers:
>Lovecraft absolutely loathed Chambers, he said of the guy this: "equipped with the right brains and education but wholly out of the habit of using it"
>>19094231
is your name ethan stan?? you post like a guy who'd have a first name for a last name
>>19092334
A wizard who is king of a region from an alternate realm. He has powers and they all call him yellow king because the only time they saw him materialized he wore a robe that looked kind of yellow or was it the moons, I don't know.
>>19094293
>Some of Lovecraft's work was Edgar Allan Poe fanfiction.
Fixed
>>19092334
The king in yellow
>>19092334

If anyone here hasn't seen True Detective, do yourself a favor and go watch it. Right now.
nobody posted this yet.

>>19094298
Probably, but you wouldn't have your hands on it.
