Well particle accelerators are under a vacuum, so it would be rather dangerous to be near one if it imploded. Also there's lots of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium about. Wouldn't want to be near a safety seal if it blew. Lots of electrical wiring. Just a lot of pipe work. There's a reason why everybody be the accelerator itself wears a hard hat.
