As a coping device for PTSD(retired vet), I've been feeding birds and squirrels, and meditating on the forest mountains of Colorado that I live on.
At first only squirrels, blue jays, scrub jays, and starling jays would visit; what was very relaxing, I would drinks some coffee/tea, they would eat some unsalted peanuts.
Eventually the Crow showed up(they would watch, but their really cautious), and that's when things started getting weird.
I feel like the Crow are teaching me to speak to birds, and how they're social structure works.
They use a blend of caws for alerts,
they're smarter and more alert so they warn the other birds of predators.
They also communicate through wing flapping wave patterns; that's how the do ALLOT of communications, because they can see it(really well) and hear it. Once you know to listen for it, you can hear it, especially if they're happy with you(they'll do a really pleasant sounding purr with their wings, as they do a low/slow fly-by to you).
They've also brought me cool shiny stuff(one time a small silver spoon even), and "human things".
I thought that was fine, maybe my half Cherokee blood was kicking in; or atleast I was going crazy in a fun way.
...Then things got really weird.
They visited me in dreams, and asked if I wanted to fly again(I was air-crew back in the military), I obviously said yes to the giant(roughly 12' comparing my size to it's) magic dream crow; we flew around the mountain doing all sorts of trick flying maneuvers(that felt amazing), the crow was in control but I could feel everything like I was him, my vision was different too, their eyes are so much better than ours everything looks purplish from UV, it makes earth look alien(also you see all sorts of weird patterns on animals, like cool blue/purple but it glows.
Now when I'm around the birds, it's like we can have an emotional conversation(don't know if that's the right way to phrase it).

>TLDR; Crows are teaching me to communicate with birds/animals, and visiting me in my dreams; pretty rad overall; anyone else have anything weird like this happen?
That's pretty amazing OP.
I wonder if every can teach us that or just some, maybe those sacred and holy animals are like that for a reason.

Also some of the crow are like 40 years old and older, and are really wise; they have powerful medicines/powers.
Sounds cool OP. Did you ever see the story about the little girl who fed crows? They followed her around town and brought her presents. Crows are very intelligent so I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to then than meets the eye.
>air crew
>PTSD
Give me a fucking break. What did you do as an air crew that was so traumatizing?

I've been reading up/viewing crow stuff sense then, not just stuff from my South Eastern Cherokee roots, but stuff from all cultures.
The stories about Odin really were shocking, because an old one-eyed crow with grayish feathers(the older crow will have faded feathers that kinda look smokey grey), is one of the Crow that visits me. Also Odin being the god of veterans also gave me pause(and caused me to start looking into the shamanistic practice of those people).
It's allot to take in, less than 5 years ago I was more agnostic/atheist(with a few Cherokee traditions for flavor); now I feel like I'm on the cusp of a whole new understanding of things work.

A friend killed himself in front of me(that's the big one); MC-130 that was full of people I knew got taken down and couldn't dump it's fuel in time, no survivors; NSFL pred-porn; 90% disabled, so I can't help the mission anymore.
I could go on, but those are the big ones. I know I didn't have it as bad as the ground-guys(and never what front like I did); but I've had enough friends die that it left a mark.
I have PTSD from the war. If I had a big bag of weed, I could cope.

Crows are Bro's. I freaking love them. Didn't know about that kind of stuff. But I do love them.
I feed the crows near my work place... especially in the winter months, as it food in the wild for all creatures gets pretty scarce around here. They know the human with the blue car is nice. They wait for me at 3 15 every day.

Corvids are all awesome. I do not like birds in general, but I adore a crow.

give something (food) back before you discover how crows say "jew"
They remember people and really do gossip about them. Someone told
Me about this so I kinda want to start
feeding them more often.

i also feel a connection with crows OP. its not big and i havent interacted with them alot but whenever i see crows they seem to look at me straight in the eye. i find them really interesting and very very different than other birds. its like they have human level of intellect.
