It seems pretty clear that a fixed essence wouldn't be conscious. But an essence could consist of a repeating structure, like a lietmotif.

Oh, I didn't realize there was a new thread. Been busy with other things. Hello.

Question. I get that the library has a section for beginners, but... if there was one book that would be the best introduction to magic, what would you all suggest? Doesn't necessarily have to be in that folder, but it might be more helpful if it is.

I have so many books, and I don't know where to begin. I've been trying Agrippa's Three Books but the archaic syntax is a bit exhausting to follow.

Wolf skin is pretty much the way to go. You can either wear the pelt outright with the head as a mask, a la shamanism, or you can go the route supposedly taken by sorcerers accused or claiming to be wolves, and have a belt made of pelt. Though these are usually said to be given by the Devil.

Same with a sort of salve to rub on to induce lycanthropy, so I don't know if there's a kind of recipe for it. There might be one though. Probably to do with hallucinogens that can be absorbed through the skin.

Have fun with your lupine roleplaying, I guess.
>>

Really depends on what you hope to achieve through magick.
>>
>>19058629
What's your goal?
>>
>>19058640
Just trying to learn about it, really. Curiosity. But if I ever plan to do anything, it'll mostly be protection against shit.

Although if there are any genuine methods of scrying or divination, that would be useful too.
>>
So this is the pastebin to search through if I want to summon a monstergirl wife right?

Because I want to summon a wife. I have no noble pursuits or ideals. I just want a monsterwife and to learn more about occultism, magic, theology out of curiosity.

Addendum to my issue of curiosity though, I'm just wondering as to what books are more useful to general purpose, with limited old superstition or new make-believe.

I guess I just see myself as an amateur anthropologist, with focus on belief, ritual, and cultural practices. But overall I think the question of "What do you want to do?" is strange to me. I'm kind of a hoarder of knowledge. So I want to learn about as much as is actually relevant, without filling my head with too much useless junk.

Here's a nice little article debunking the long standing secular assertion that Mindfulness is the end-all be-all of Buddhist praxis and light years ahead of anything in the West.

Mindfulness 'meditation' does NOT foster empathy, as it constrains one's focus on one's own phenomenology (unless done in a group setting, but even then) and after only five minutes of mindfulness 'meditation', narcissists actually become WORSE.

Explains a lot about folks like Sam Harris and your /pol/ or /his/ or /lit/ or /sci/ fag materialists who think they've achieved the pinnacle of Buddhist thought by focusing on a chair or tree for two and a half minutes when they're upset.

Sam Harris is interesting to me. I like his trains of thought and his podcasts, but it's so obvious to me that he's a preacher, just one for secularism. Perhaps his fans just don't listen to other proselytizing shows to see how similar Harris is.
>>
>>19060237
I like when Sam verges on Korzybski and talks about the contemplative map/territory distinction.

But then he goes on to assert that only Buddhism has a valid outlet of these phenomenologies and benefits while utterly ignoring any work inside of his discipline except his own.

I think Fedorafame does something really malignant to these cats' personalities.

I was referring to the massive pile of materials in neuroscience which substantiate that the praxes of serious contemplative mystics, no matter the religion, Christian, Western Esoteric, Kabbalistic, Muslim, or Buddhist, induces the same basic sorts of phenomena which result in the same sorts of Attainments (through the equivalent of Adepthood, after that things diverge more and ore), but Sammy here discounts four out of mystical forms as charlatanry.

That's pretty stupid, where does he say that? He's even less of a neuroscientist than he is a philosopher afaik, i think he did collaborate on one pretty eh paper on epistemic closure and political affiliation tho
>>
>>19060201
I understand your point and I also find it quite sad that whole tradition that conveys Buddhism that encompasses traditions like the Vajrayana and Tantra are being advocated by some literal Neo-Atheists and practices that are more preliminary steps to actual meditation/samadhi, rather than the end-game.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with focusing on external objects, this is what I call "dry concentration", but I´ve practiced for long what is known as Trāṭaka https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tr%C4%81%E1%B9%ADaka

I personally would endorse Trāṭaka for anyone who spends lots of time with computer/electronical screens, for 15 minute gazing tends to produce tears, watering of the eyes and strengthen the muscles of eye. I have certainly experienced much clearer and sharper vision and cleansing of the eye.

I´ve practiced Trāṭaka on a extremely small dot draw on white paper situated few feet away from my gaze. 20-30minutes at time. When your mind starts to flicker, so does your gaze. For when the mind is calm, so is the gaze.

Too big objects are not good, for you could end up viewing the scenery and not the object. So I recommend something extremely small and that stands out from the background. Candle in a dark room would be ideal too.

I remember Crowley describing certain Raja-Yogic exercises taught by Oscar Eckenstein in the Confessions were Crowley was to concentrate on objects of the mind (Geometric figures, a cross) etc.

I´ve tried these exercises, but I find them extremely hard, internal Trāṭaka requires much more than external, physical Trāṭaka. The objects, like white cross, tend to change shape constantly, change size and even colour. It is very hard to keep steady gaze on something seen with mind´s eye more than 20-30 seconds, I salute those who can achieve such concentration.

>>19060440
I mean I don't think I need to pull up a specific citation for his constant discrediting of the Abrahamics but there's a podcast he was on where he implicates the entirety of the Western traditions from Grimoires through Crowley as irrelevant; I can't find it but someone tried posting it here as if his griping has any bearing on reality.
>>
>>19060483
>Trāṭaka
Word, I'm not discounting it, I'm just asserting that it's not the end all-be all of the system(s) and probably won't even be that helpful without a Guru or some serious self-reflection.

I used a candle for Trakata when I was a wee lad.

>>
>>19060484
>constant discrediting of the Abrahamics
I would've figured he'd at least recognize that, say, kabbalistic forms of meditation can result in dramatic phenomenological and psychological experiences even if he rejects the underlying mythos/metaphysics. Presumably he doesn't believe in reincarantion or 7 worlds or the independent (inasfar as anything is independent) existence of the yidam. Fool's gonna fool themselves tho. I remember him using crowley as an example of someone not worth reading in a debate with jordan peterson, but figured he probably hadn't read him. Equinox era crowley seems like he'd be Harris's bag, anticipated a lot of his shit.

what's the reason as to no? isn't the HGA just your own personal ishvara, your lens of the yechidah? why couldn't one use their own connection to this, apply the filter of the person they wish to evoke the self of (via invocation) then contact the HGA?

Just because someone is telling you something you don't want to hear/don't like doesn't mean they're inferior to you or that they're ignorant, it means you're being a *slave* to your ego instead of being master of yourself as those who pursue The work should strive to be.

sorry for the late reply.

not planetary invocation, i'm saying something along the lines of invoking the individual you wish to interact with, whilst also doing the normal thing of invoking/connecting to the yechidah. uniting the influences and forces effectively by their combination, basically revealing what as best as you can comprehend what that person would interact with if they themselves evoked yechidah/ishvara/HGA.

basically applying the lens of the person on to the blank state of the yechidah.

and to get technical, the holy guardian angel is one part the genius, and the genius IS planetary. (so you could also work through the demon+genius of a person, invoking them and these or the individual with their almuten than the yechidah.)

It depends. What god are you going to make an oath to? A god of war (Mars, YHVH, etc) will not make for a good choice. But if you dedicate yourself to the bornless god, eternal and almighty -- the god of Spinoza, the god of Plato, Brahman -- you will surely reap many rewards.

She removes them, all it requires is a once in a lifetime confession.
She presides over sexual deeds and immoral sex. It is common belief that filthy sexual deeds cause sexual diseases, moreso in modernity. She simply only helps those willing to change and purify themselves.
She suffers a lot and in one of her incarnations was flayed alive, then sacrificed before becoming a goddess, when she was destined to unite two tribes through marriage instead.
She is a good spirit. Trying to patch up the holes other gods left in human behavior.
After what she has been through I find that inspiring.

So, something has been bugging me as of late. Well, not as of late, since it's been bugging me my whole life, but I'm just thinking about it more now.

When I was a kid, like 7 or so, I remember my parents had this box of books they got from somewhere. A lot of them looked like $5 romance novels, some cooking ones, etc. Naturally, I was rummaging through it one day, looking for something that would be of interest to my 7yo self, and I found one with some strange cover. My mother came by and snatched it away, and said I don't want you to touch this again or read it. She was very serious about it too so I knew it had to be something bad. I figured maybe it has boobs or something but the cover looked spooky (to me). I asked why and she fucking said it's about witchcraft and to just forget about it.

This was really odd because my parents were never religious. They also let me watch scary movies including ones with that kind of thing. So for her to not just say no to a book like that but act as if it was completely forbidden was out of the ordinary.

I tried to sneak in a few times after that but she ended up hiding the box of books up in a closet shelf where things would fall out even if I could reach it. Ever since it's bothered me that I never found out what it really was. I sorta just forgot about it after those years.

So, about 2 and a half years ago at a get together, I asked her what it was now that I was older, and she literally refused to tell me, still to this day. She asked why and if I was into witchcraft in an accusing way. I laughed and said no, I just want closure on it because it's still a mystery to me. She shook her head and murmured "I dunno" and changed the subject.

I don't know what in the flying fuck was in it but that book must have been something really fucking serious if she still denied telling me even as an adult. And the sad part is I'll probably never figure out what the fuck it really was.

Summoning Spirits makes the conflation of Dr. Rudd, that you need to use Watchtower as an opening/closing for Goetic evocation. In fact, he says to use it for all evocation. And, he claims his book is all you need to do evocation, but he doesn't teach the greater invoking or banishing rites. His exercises can be pretty useful, but they're just like diet libri exercises. He lists the construction of the elemental weapons in arbitrary order, as well as a bunch of other faults we could find. Also, if you're coming from an anthropological standpoint, there is essentially no historical accuracy in that book. Furthermore, he took a LOT of his ideas from Bardon (of all LARPers!). I would not waste my time on that if I were you.
>>
>>19059249
Wikipedia "The Art of Memory." Also, the exercises in many of the libri (Class B I believe?) can be useful in getting your mind and body in the right state in order TO be able to get better.

>>
>>19061837
True Name? yeah probably. I think the anon is conflating, or making the presumption, that HGA is not a separate entity, but rather a "higher self" if one can be said to exist. The name of the HGA should be given to the operator, I believe, during the K&C
>>

>>
>>19064470

I took a break from occult stuff for almost two years because I felt like it wasn't working. A few days ago I felt pulled towards it again. It feels good to be back, I'm excited for the future.
>>
>>19064714
Cool. It generally takes daily work for extended periods to see results. Also, going from learning the LBRP to attempting Goetic evocation a month later is setting one self up for failure, generally. What were you doing that didn't seem to work, anon?
>>
>>19064697
Yes.
>>
>>19064733
Whats the purpose of evoking them? What can they do for you or others?
>>
>>19063822
Well, I'm not even looking for a deity or personification of disease/filth. I'm looking for sickness/plague worship, a system of magic built upon illness. Like I stated earlier, similarly to death reverence - where one does not fear death, longs for death, and revels in the ideas of decay and destruction, so too am I looking for such practices within sickness; but to no avail.

I also stated earlier that there are practices centered around healing, health, and good health-oriented deities. I know there are deities associated with illness; but other than curses - there doesn't seem to be much praxes in this regard.
>>
>>19064733
Whic have you evoked? Or if too many to say, which kings have you evoked? Do you use a circle/triangle or no? I have worked with gnomes without them before but I did use them to work with Djin. IDK what the protocol is for elementals.

>>
>>19064793

You may have success with psychic vampirism. Despite its cringe-y name, it's a working system of energy manipulation which can be used to bring about weakness and sickness in others while at the same time strengthening yourself.
>>
>>19064793

Make up your own then. *All* practices started with one dude if you go back far enough, anything after that is just bitches hopping on the bandwagon so they can be lazy piggybacking fucks. Fictional status aside, there *is* a godform of Nurgle from the Warhammer universe that fits your needs. Make shit up, refine it, formalize it, and start your own religion/cult/whatever dedicated to him. Though I will say that a well-rounded knowledge of magical theory and practice will make your efforts significantly easier.
>>

I think you would be surprised how difficult it is to truly be original. Besides, I would hardly call reconstructing historical rites, or bastardizing/adapting them to one's purpose, "lazy."

Naberius is the equivalent of the dude in prison who gives your ass the lowdown so you don't get shankrapulated. Hit him up for schoolin before dealing with anybody else. Focalor is a good emergency option. If shit gets real, he'll fuck some shit up for you. Just keep the seal on hand 'n, y'know, call him and bribe his happy ass beforehand.

Aside from that, ideally, as a standard practice, you should be performing the greater banishing pentagram, followed by the greater banishing hexagram keyed to the entities ruling planet, followed by the middle pillar, followed by the bornless as preparation prior to the actual summoning. Just trust me, and do it. Then there's the properly outlined ritual spaces themselves. Handwriting/drawing and details matter around the circle etc. That's how you keep your squirrelly ass safe. Get like a section of cloth/canvas/paper of some sort etc and either paint or stitch in the circle etc if you can't use chalk in your workspace.

As a panic option in case you ever feel uneasy in any space, keep extra salt, sage (and lighter/matches naturally), rose petals, florida water/holy water, and lavender on hand. Shit's how you throw up a quick lockdown anywhere if an entity wants to fuck around. Water + sage smoke penta/hexes in each area/space/room (floor/ceiling respectively), a line of salt at the windows/doors in *every* room/hall/etc with doors (including closets/cabinets/showers). Sprinkle the flowers at the corners and center of each room/area/etc. The point here, is for pre-established representation of elements to throw up a fumigation tent and get rid of pests when combined with the rituals. Flowers for earth, salt for spirit passive, waters for water, burning sage for air, fire, and spirit active.

Now, as an absolute last resort. There's Pazuzu. The cost might be high, but desperate times and all.

I presume you are talking about the (Californian) OTO?

Apart from having few copyrightial and legal claims to some Crowleyana and other material, they have no other legitimacy as order or successor to the original Ordo Templi Orientis that practically died with Karl Germer.
>>
>>19067915
>>19067828
>The Year is 1969

>McMurtry finally finds out about Germer’s death, nearly seven years after the event. Realising that O.T.O. now has no O.H.O. (as Crowley had foreseen might happen), he activates his letters of authorisation from Crowley and invites all surviving members of O.T.O. to work with him to rebuild the Order.

To make the things a bit comical, McMurty using "emergency initiations", would initiate people into the order literally with a towel wrapped around his head (As to portray his role as Caliph)

I wouldn´t take Californian OTO as very legitimate successor to the original spirit of Ordo Templi Orientis.

After Germer´s death in the 1962, the only Thelemic order with actual structure and somewhat initiatory chain that can be at least traced to Jane Wolfe and the Cefalu Abbey of Crowley and later Agape Lodge in America was Solar Lodge.

McMurty´s "Caliphate" established in 1969 was McMurty trying to "Restore" the OTO practically alone. Crowley probably is rolling in his grave.

OTO in the UK is still subject to the Californian Ordo Templi Orientis whose current leader is William Breeze.

Are you perhaps talking about the TOTO (Typhonian Ordo Templi Orientis) that was established by Kenneth Grant? I do not know does it even operate or have presence in the UK anymore.

https://www.oto-uk.org/

This UK order is directly associated to the Californian Ordo Templi Orientis that claims succession from Grady McMurty.

>Crowley probably is rolling in his grave.
Crowley probably WANTED a succession crisis.
Let the Children fend for themselves in the wilderness for a fortnight sorta thing.

He gave succession to both orders to Germer.

We have the letters, Crowley told Germer the OTO was probably an unfit vehicle for the mysteries, and told him that as successor he can either reform the Order (he didn't), reactivate the Order (never got past tea with WT Smith), or let it wither. Guess what he did?

Germer's wishes at the time of death were vague as fuck. He either wanted it to go to Paragranus (the non-Thelemic Swiss OTO), or to Motta.

I've come to the unpopular conclusion that without a mechanism of succession in the A.'.A.'., we can't hold Wolfe's claim to rank as absolute. Spare, Russel, Cameron, all appeared ahead of her, and George Cecil Jones, the man who founded with and initiated Crowley to the A.'.A.'. was still alive but nobody bothered to send the old man a letter. He'd become a chemist. Held some obscure but lucrative patents.

I will tell you what. I have seen and experienced things that worked. But not enough. Not to the point of no return and beyond. Magick is an art, like drawing, or singing, ect. You have to find people willing to help, and if they are, make sure they aren't taking advantage of you.

Also make sure that you have backup plans encase those who are working with aren't getting the results you have asked for in a decent amount of time.

I am looking from the classic magick into something more like voodoo to get the results I've been asking for years.
>>

I'm looking into brake up spells. (hears a bunch of people roll their eyes) I know that it's dangerous to mess with someones free will and all of that, but I am committed to doing it. I also believe there's no such thing as free will. As others around you can influence and change you without you knowing. That is why I've started practicing myself.

If I don't feel comfortable I will go seeking out others that might know more then what I am doing, and will happily pay for the service rendered. I also think these work if you just do your best to believe in them.

It's why a someone who doesn't believe in a certain way or praying won't get results. No matter what faith you are in. It's because you need to believe in it.

Are their brake up spells that work rather fast? I have a 9 month time limit on this, and there are only so many on the internet that seem really genuine among the scammers.

Don't go chaos for a start. Despite its adherents, it requires that you know a lot about a great many of systems. It's simple due to the "lack of rules"; but that's what what also makes it difficult.

>Where do I start learning magick?
There is a beginners folder in the mega - it has some fundamentals and various paths to consider.

Go to Hermeticism, ceremonial magic, or something eastern - these are what I'd suggest.

While I was at work on Friday, my sister came into my room and prowled in my stuff.
She touched and moved Coyotl.
She went through my macaw feathers, and asked me to make her a headband out of them.
Then, went on a freaking tirade about how there is only one god.
Knowing my sister, I'm shocked as hell she didn't steal the feathers and throw away Coyotl.

Stephen Mitchell seems pretty standard, but IMO you should read several anyway to get the full meaning.

It's a good read though, and can be read in easy chunks, so it's not so troublesome as you might think.

So whenever I have a look at demonolatry, I see that Satan is named Samael and that Lilith is there.

Say, isn't this demiurgical instead of demonic?

Since Lilith and Samael are there, I mean.

I do camshows on occasion to make extra $£¥€. I don't make much, usually I'll end up with a hundred or more people just sitting there jerking it to me in lingerie without paying me

Any way I to absorb their sexual energy and use it to benefit me?

Fuck it, I'm bored so why not. Here's how you do it, stripped of all the mumbo jumbo and bullshit.

Paradoxical gnosis (simultaneously maintaining your normal state while maintaining a state of absolute focus) and plain old energy manipulation. Assuming of course you're wanting to do it while on cam, as they're masturbating to you. All interactions and observances create pathways between the parties involved, use that to your advantage. Backtace those pathways, and redirect the sexual energy they're generating to whatever. Consider it like creating a junction linking two locations for Windows, except you're doing it with energy and will instead of on a computer. All you need is the know-how and their "location" (following those pathways back to their sources). Thereafter, when they start throwing off fuck-energy, it goes where you want it to go (unless they or you remove your changes)

If that doesn't make sense to you, then you're out of your depth and should wizard mohr.

>>
>>19056891
I don't know a lot about this particular kind of magick but I'm a historian interested in folk magic(k). There were several cases of people being prosecuted as werewolves during the German witch hunts and if you're interested, I can go through some sources and literature on those cases and see what kind of rituals or other ways these people turned into werewolves are mentioned. It'd just take a couple of hours of research so I don't want to do it unless you'd actually be interested in the results.
The only English source I could find during my initial google search is this one from the 16th century about one Peter Stubb, who turned into a wolf by wearing a girdle (given to him by the Devil in this, but not all, variation):
http://www.elmar-lorey.de/werwolf/Stump.htm
>The Devil, who saw him a fit instrument to perform mischief as a wicked fiend pleased with the desire of wrong and destruction, gave unto him a girdle which, being put around him, he was straight transformed into the likeness of a greedy, devouring wolf, strong and mighty, with eyes great and large, which in the night sparkled like unto brands of fire, a mouth great and wide, with most sharp and cruel teeth, a huge body and mighty paws. And no sooner should he put off the same girdle, but presently he should appear in his former shape, according to the proportion of a man, as if he had never been changed.

What is the best source for traditional knowledge about the Sefirot? Kaplan's commentary on the Sefer Yetzirah gives little clarification on Netzach, Hod, and Yesod; the Bahir's commentary is very much a prototype of the Kabbalah's system, and the Zohar it titanic and very oblique on the matter from the little I've been able to sift through.

Well I followed the /sum/ guide and nothing happened.
