You've read wrong, the Bible even says you become a brother or sister of Immanuel, because he's an angel, you in turn become sons of god like him. In this Universe, this is just one emanation of the true God.

The idea Paul (Galatians 4) seems to have in the NT is that there are "elemental forces," basic powers that control the world and it's events. This can be interpreted to be demons, at least in part.

In Enoch, the sons of the fallen angels are condemned to become demons. They are to thirst and hunger and never find relief.

The Jewish idea of Lilith is pretty popular, but I always thought it was a smokescreen to disguise the theory about the origin of the other races.
