Spider Queen... oh my. As this world is a distorted reflection of the inner world, the Spider Queen may be a reference to a powerful force in an inner heaven. Is this related to Dragonlance? IMO the arachnoid layer is a foreign installation that performs guard duty in the psyche. Sauron is the head honcho, the arachnoid layer is his servant. I know there's a circuit in the brain that activates (or cuts) whenever our thoughts get too "off the beaten track". MAO inhibitors temporarily dampen this guard mechanism.
