Do your own homework.

That one time I dreamt about 10 inches long grasshoppers trying to get into my mouth and my family thought it was funny.

Write a generic story, like about how you were camping and saw a spook, or that time you got abducted by aliens. It may seem overdone but those are the kind of things never get old, because deep down everyone is weak to those things.

The subject of the story has relatively little bearing on the scariness compared to how well you write it.

I had a dream once where some lady who was working for a news station was covering a story about how some guys found an ancient viking map that pointed the way to an island somewhere about halfway between Iceland and Europe called "The Island of the White Goblin". As stated previously, the island was east of Iceland, but it had a tropical climate once you reached it. The runes on the map made mention of how people wanted to go there to escape the cold, but they were chased off by the White Goblin. The reporter lady and a camera guy got permission to tag along with the expedition to the island to check it out. I vaguely remember something about how the island couldn't be seen by satellites and no other map charted it, so they had to use old-timey, navigate-by-the-stars techniques to actually get there. Once they, landed, they found a huge, modern looking metal building in the middle of the island. They went inside to find out what was going on and found some rickety spiral stairs going down a good 200ft into the earth. Everybody went down the stairs, and when they reached the bottom, they saw some pale dude in a suit and tie sitting in an office chair. The reporter lady got super sp00ked and yelled "IT'S BOB!!" and then everybody started running as fast as they could back up the stairs with "Bob" hot on their tail. The reporter lady was the last person to get on the stairs, so she was constantly looking behind to see if Bob was catching up. The last thing I saw before I woke up was Bob tearing around the corner of the staircase and lunging towards the reporter lady.

One thing I remember very clearly from the dream was the depiction of the white goblin on the map. I'll sketch it up in GIMP if anybody is interested.

Here anon, I'll give you a thing I started and kind of just gave up on. It was based on (and in fact the first quote was from it) one of those "creepy things my child has said or done" Feel free to take my short intro and do whatever you please with it.

I used to have a reoccurring nightmare about a factory that took newborn babies and ripped them apart in an attempt to find the best parts of each baby. Then the machines would take the "good" parts and sew them together to make their weird franken-babies. Everything was a blue-gray hue and it was very loud. It was also shot from the perspective of the security cameras.

Way back, I had an extreme crush on a girl in high school, I dreamt we were swimming naked, alone in an above ground pool at night, and the water turned black, she dived under the water and exposed her back, the skin split open around her spine, exposing her muscles and bones while I held her in my arms.

My nightmare was that in 2017 some people actually believed that the Earth was flat...
