What did I experience last night?

Hey, I think I had sleep paralysis last night. Here's the story:

>be me shitty sleep schedule
>finally go to sleep
>eyes open (I think) and can barely move
>was on side and somehow get moved onto my back
>see faint lights as I turn
>hear a voice "HELLO"
>wake up panicky
Is this sleep paralysis or just a crazy nightmare? I'd really like to know and feel like /x/ is the best board to ask.

Bare in mind I've NEVER had something like this before.

Is it possible to get out of sleep paralysis right before it starts? how would that feel?

This. The key is to not panic.

I remember in one of my moments of sleep paralysis,someone came into my room firing a gun but because I kinda want to die I wasn't scared and instead just accepted my faith. I then woke up.

It was probably a demonic spirit of some kind, if the intent was to scare the everliving shit out of you.

When you sleep you open yourself to another plane, a spiritual one.

There are bad things in there. Parasitic entities for one. They feed on your negative emotion. Christ can help.

Of course there is also a lot of 'noise' in the hypnagogia between wake and sleep, so it could be a 'random' block of information hitting your ears, it all depends on what your relationship was to it. Did it seem geographically present, in your room? Or was it a purely aural thing? I wouldn't worry about it too much. In hypnagogia I have heard the most elemental roars sometimes. I caution to think that this is completely meaningless. Perhaps its a carnal aspect of ourselves?

Anon, I've found that avoiding blue light before going to sleep reduces chronic sleep paralysis from recurring. Avoid television, cellphones, computers, etc. for a an hour or two before going to sleep. If you must use them, there are blue light filtered glasses out there you can get.
