Any game devs on here?
If so, is it hard to get into the game development industry?
Computer genius OP can't figure out one 4chan board from the other.

Are you skilled in programming?
Have any experience with programming games?

No, I'm more of an idea guy
Op got not paranormaled and went back to game.

>"No, I'm more of an idea guy"
Translation: "I have no relevant skills and I just want game makers to produce games based on my retarded, half-baked ideas"
Also, it's worrying that you can't even find the right board to post on.

Yes, and yes.
Especially if you're just an idea guy with no marketable skills and you can't even figure out how to properly navigate 4chan boards. You have literally 0% chance of ever becoming a game dev. Go be a janitor or McCook.

Thing about ideas is.
They are worth $10 in your head. $100 as a thought out concept. $10,000 written out on paper. $100,000 with the storyline written out.
If you're an idea, you need to realize the full storyline. You should have about 80 pages of business plan layed out. Then you need to go pitch it.
The Actualization process is the biggest component, and takes far more effort than Idea guys give it credit.

If you're a coder, tester or an artist and are good at what you do, it's always possible.
Otherwise not really. Story devs and other "idea" people usually start as something else or are professional writers.

spooky
>>18979169
Why in gods name would you want that?
>>18979503
Dude nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is in need of an idea guy in any fucking capacity. Chances are that in any company, Triple A to Indie, most if not all people in any position from tester to game director has an idea they want to make a reality.
There is no shortage of people with ideas. The notion you could get anywhere in the industry as "an idea guy" is childish at best.
That and you're on the wrong board. >>>/v/
>>18979169
Yes
Idk, I do everything myself. I wouldn't want to be part of "the industry".
Videogames are not paranormal.

Rock up with a fully formed idea, bring drawings, mock ups etc. Cool parts of the story.
Learn to pitch it in 30 seconds
Then when they take the bait, pitch in 10 minutes.
Once you get that, then 45-60 minute presentation.
Do this with 5 projects, make them strong ones. You will be known as an idea's guy when you had 5 ideas.

TV did this. So many times in a show, a character gets called in for their expertise to some big organization, and rather than do any work, they just stand there and mumble their plans as if they're a genius, then everyone else does the hard work off-screen. People think this is actually how jobs work

so lemme get this straight: this thread gets to exist in /x/ for 20 hours straight, uninterrupted. My thread about what certain psychoactive drugs do on a paranormal scale... gets fucking deleted in two hours.

WHAT PARANORMAL PHENOMENA ARE WE DISCUSSING HERE?
>>18979169
>game devs
Now, that, my dear sir, is paranormal as fuck.
Every game company wants people with technical AND artistic skill. They're so in-demand they get called Unicorns.
If you have to choose between computer science degree or a game dev art college degree, go for comp sci.
