>be 6
>week before halloween
>trying on halloween costume (black cat)
>mom says "hey anon i'm going to show you something cool."
>i think it's halloween related so get all excited
>walk around the neighborhood with her in my kitty costume
>she takes me like 6 blocks down to watch a neighbors house burn to the ground
>watch as firemen try desperately to put it out
>lots of screaming and crying from the family and neighbors
>go home fully terrified of anything resembling fire
>didn't get over this for for 12 years
>cried lighting candles
i love my mom but seriously what the fuck how would that not be traumatizing

does anyone know or remember a show or special on animal planet i think called weird world? from what i remember it was a show that focused on weird animals or cryptids on camera, and a commercial for it always creeped me out. it was a montage of clips that showed weird animals/cryptids being freaky and popping up behind people. this one clip showed a woman in a car filming her son when all of a sudden an odd monkey-like animal pops up behind the boy outside the window. i may be confused with "Weird, True & Freaky" which was a similar show or maybe its just my imagination, but getting some closure on it would help.

A book called the The Red Balloon made me scared for some reason. The pictures made me feel uneasy too.

I would hide the book behind my dresser and it would reappear. And I don't believe anyone put it there because the dresser would've been difficult to move.
>>
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Dark Crystal yet.
>>
>>18960959
I remember something similar, that scared the shit out of me.
When I was 6 or something, I saw a documentary about man-eating giant squids (a baiting title for a documentary about Architeuthis dux). At the end, there was a live-action sequence, where a diver show with his flashlight a CGI giant squid's eye. You see the squid red and white body in the darkness, showing a 14m animal.

Even though this was a fake beast, it fucking scared me of giant squids

>>18959649
Can't remember the show for the life of me, must've been a tween horror show like Afraid of the Dark but it was more of a "documentary" thing with a girl voicing over video clips and "dramatizations", talking about how a woman fell to her death from the top of a banister in an expensive mansion because she saw a demon that scared the daylights out of her. They showed this admittedly cheap-looking pig-dog-like beast that actually scared me really bad for no particular reason. I could stomach all this other stuff, like blood and guts and gore, but for some reason that was the worst thing I'd seen at that age (around 7-9?).
>>
There was a show on Animal Planet or Doscovery I think, called Lost Tapes, when I was like 13 I think? It was "found footage" style videos about cryptids, it was mad cheesy, but for some reason the Jersey Devil episode creeped me the fuck out.

When I was a little kid, I loved the movie version of Little Shop of Horrors (because I was really into carnivorous plants bacj then). Admittedly it's not much of a kid's movie, and all of the stuff about abuse and sexual sadism went way over my head, but it was a really fun movie. And, it had a really sweet and cute if improbable happy ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtJtYayW4VQ

Then one day a local small theatre put on a production of the original music play; and when my mom offered to take me to see it I jumped at the chance. What I didn't know at the time is that the ending in the movie when it was released is, uh, slightly different from the way the play ends. And to make this even worse, because I'd seen the movie so many times by then, I was pretty certain I knew exactly what was going to happen; so the moment things started diverging it was like reality itself falling apart right in front of me.

I wasn't expecting Audrey to die.
I wasn't expecting Seymour to die.
I wasn't expecting Patrick Martin to come back and take cuttings from the plant.
I wasn't the plant to fucking take over the world!

And then years later, they release the movie on dvd and blu-ray with the original-original ending restored. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RjFvcw6ToQ Now I laugh along with it and imagine all the parents showing this to their kids today without realizing it's a different ending from the one they saw.

I used to watch Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction with my grandma sometimes as a kid and then on my own. They had an episode where a kid played a prank on his friends by hiding in a closet and wound up vanishing to never be seen again. Another episode had a kid being terrorized by red eyes at night but no one believed him until his family saw them too. Show claimed both of these were true which left me scared of actual monsters as a kid. I still hope to this day they were actually bullshit....
>>
>>18959649
Is "shit that traumatized you as a kid + Mr. Meaty image" a meme now or something?

Anyway, it didn't traumatize me (I thought it was cool), but there is this one weird mockumentary/documentary I remember as a little kid that was pretty strange. Like, it used CG and it was about these two hovering robots exploring an alien planet. One was yellow and silver and the other one was purple and silver; I think the yellow one's name was CLIO or something. Anyway they keep documenting all these strange alien creatures (like these stingray things that latch onto trees or something), and at the end they both get slaughtered by this "dominant predator species" or something followed by people talking about how "we aren't the center of the universe anymore" or something. Does anyone know what it was?

Actually for me it was a weird thing, it was a regular ass toy.

So what happened was that my mom, uncharacteristically bought me a toy once. We were poor, but not extremely, so it wasn't so much that she couldn't, is that she wouldn't. My dad has always been an extremely selfish and egotistical alcoholic, while my mom just simply never liked me, maybe she loved me, but she absolutely disliked me. Its weird to explain, but she was never kind to me. One day she went to a nearby city (it was common practice to shop in the bigger city) and came back with a toy, it was some really cheap squishy thing that she gave me. One of those stress relievers but for kids I guess, its eyes would pop up, you know the deal.

For some reason, the toy fucked my shit up, I just couldn't look at it, it freaked me out really bad. There was really no reason, I can't remember for the life of me what it was like, but it seriously fucked with me. I was terribly torn between throwing it away, and thus throwing away what my mind took as my mom's love, and keeping it and being terrified. Eventually my older cousin took it and threw it away for me (Out of a moving car too) and I felt extreme relief.

Really odd experience for me, I know I had a few classics like "Walking into an R rated movie" type things but my childhood is mostly a huge muddled mess of repressed memories. Except for a story or two like the one I just said.

Back in the late 80s, my local cable got both WGN from Chicago and WWOR from NYC. One of them would play reruns of The Muppet Show in the mornings (around 7) and I'd watch before school.

There was one segment that involved ballroom dancing and the dancers (or an adjacent Muppet) would make sarcastic comments. Anyway, one episode had Rowlf the dog close to this red face guy and he said "Heh heh heh, swelled head." and the guy's head explodes and his wife starts screaming. Cue the laugh track.

I was only 10 at the time, but it really fucked me up for weeks. Mainly because it was so unexpected. And I'm not sure what bugged me more, the exploding head or the woman's screams.

>Be me, 4 years old
>Live in the middle of 1000+ acres of dense woods
>Very rural area, lots of farm land
>New England summer night
>I don't quite remember why, but my father made me go outside and locked the door behind me
>Maybe I was misbehaving, who knows
>I'm standing on the back porch looking out over the yard and the woods
>He turns the porch light off
>I start panicking
>I look down in the far end of our yard at the border of the woods
>A large black figure on all fours slowly emerges from the woods, maybe 200' away
>It's just barely light enough to see the outline
>I start slamming on the door to be let back in
>The figure is getting closer
>The porch light turns on and my father opens the door
>I told him that something was outside
>He thinks I'm making it up

FFW a few days

>My father takes me for a walk up the road and to some of the trails in the woods
>We start down one path and there is a strong smell of death
>First time I ever smelled death
>We continue along and find the decaying body of a large buck
>I remember seeing the ribs flayed out like something tore it apart in a rage

I'll continue...
>>
>>18973478
Continued...

>I go to reach to touch the bones, my father stops me
>He has us turn around and walk home
>I kept asking him what would do that, he wouldn't answer
>Maybe he didn't want to scare me, or he didn't know himself
>I have an extremely vivid memory- there is no way coyotes did that damage

FFW to that winter

>Just before Christmas, 1992
>Snow storm, power goes out
>House phone is out too, pole must be down nearby
>My father drags out the generator
>I can't remember the exact reason, but my mother decides to bring me on a short sleigh ride up the road
>It's a little wooden sleigh I'd sit in and she would pull it along on the snow
>She had a large flashlight lighting the road, pulling me along in the snowy woods
>We get up to the nearest neighbors house and see their power is out too
>My mother talks with the neighbor for a brief minute, then we start home
>She is pulling me along when the flashlight starts to die out
>All we can hear is the light sound of snow falling
>It's pitch black but everything looks silver from the snow
>We were only about 1/4 mile from our house but with power out it was scary to me at the time
>Suddenly we both hear a low growl in the woods that bellowed into a terrifying scream
>My mother picked me up and ran home
>We get home, my father has the generator started
>Tell him about what we heard
>He doesn't believe us

FFW 8 years

>I was always instructed NOT to go down one of the trails in the woods while growing up
>Excuses like "hunters are in there" and "there might be bear traps"
>I decide to explore one day
>Go down the trail
>About 1/2 mile in, it splits off into three trails
>One is grassy, one is overgrown, and the other looks like an old cobblestone path now covered with moss and ferns
>Of course I took the creepy cobblestone path
>It lead to an old, old farmhouse deep in the woods
>Must have been from the late 1600's or so, all dilapidated and plants growing through it

Cont.
>>
>>18973528

>One area of the foundation looked recently disturbed
>I crept down to that area and saw a large hole leading under the floorboards of the house
>The sides were all trashed and there was clear evidence something was living in there
>It was starting to get dark out and I didn't want to be stuck in the woods at night
>Start heading back, figure I'll come back another day
>I get halfway up the hill when I hear noises come from the house
>I ran as fast as I could to get out of there
>It's getting dark
>Still not home, parents will be pissed
>Hear that awful growl and scream again
>Rush home, tell my parents what I saw
>Get scolded for going in the woods

It's kinda anticlimactic, but it's a true story. I never found out what the hell made those noises but it had me terrified for years. Our dogs knew something was out there, my mother remembers the growl/scream... No idea

Sometimes I still have nightmares about it and I'm in my late 20's now.

Got a good one but can't find a clip of it because I have no idea what it's from.

Some dude is in either jail or some sort of psyche ward, locked in his room with a small barred window. Clip to the outside there's a nearby swamp, and some zombie-looking thing just walks slowly out of the shallow water. He walks over to the jail or whatever and somehow manages to bend the bars outside the guy's room, breaks in and kills him.

Ringing any bells for anyone?

Didn't traumatize me per se, but when I was 6 or 7 my furby got possessed by the devil. Made me sad because it ended up killing my Furby. I set him on my carpet ,didn't put him to sleep first, just told him I was going outside to play ( I didn't have any friends at this point) and when I came inside, its eyes were rolling into the back of its head and it smelled like burning rubber bands and it was making this repetitive droning "ahh ahh ahh" sound with clicks in between each "ahh". I remember walking in on it doing this and my only reaction was " Furby, no!" I was so sad. Seemed like a horrible way for one of those to die.

Final Destination 2, a show on discovery called Seconds from Disaster and watching 9/11 happen in live action on the news all fueled a deep and persistent fear of freak accidents/disasters/attacks/etc. I would literally lay in bed all night thinking of all the sudden horrible ways I (or my family) could die.

The fur faced devil horned TERROR eyed gang rowed one...just describing and remembering him, after all these years, makes the skin on my back crawl. Can someone explain that to me, btw???

That one movie with massive worms that enter the human body and make them move like zombies. With the big ass fatso with lotsa worms, girl on the bathtub gangraped by worms, those scenes... I've been terrified of worms since then.

And it's more terrifying when your mother forces you to take a nap when there's a fat man's thumb-sized worm crawling on the fucking ceiling right after you saw the movie.

When I woke up, it was still there. I played outside for a bit, fearing it from falling, but yeah, it was gone.

No, but its where my bdsm fetish came from. I used to put my Barbie's in bondage. I put myself in bondage for the first time when I was 4. Used a yoyo string. That's the beginning of the weirdness.

I used too tie myself up too as a kid. I got really aroused whenever i did that. I also loved too see women tied up. The whole Tied up damsel in distress cliché was one of the first things i got aroused over. I remember one episode of the alladin cartoon where jasmin got tied up by bad guys and i thought it was so hot. I havent really tried any bondage in my actual sexlife because my girlfriend only really likes vanilla sex but it think it would still really get me off to try some bondage.

It was probably the eyes that did it, anon.

I always had a huge fear of things staring at me (still do). Like, not people, but *things*. Dad bought my sister and I piggy banks so that we could save our money up. I don't know why, but for some reason, that little pig on the shelf staring out at me every night just creeped the ever loving shit out of me, so I smashed it when I had only 5 dollars in it. Dad was kinda mad since there was a little plug in the bottom so you didnt have to smash it, but fuck.

Anyways, that's not the first thing that did it for me. Pictures did it too. I actually always felt uneasy, and I guess I was just looking for things to blame it on.

I think I had (still have actually) a touch of psychosis, but never went to a doctor for it. Had pretty strong delusions about the devil following me around as a kid, with a voice that wasn't me in the back of my head saying "I bet my soul I can't jump across four tiles" or some shit like that, and I'd have to jump it or else the devil would have my soul. It put my on edge so hard, I don't even know how it started. All I know is that *I* never said it, it was this fuckhead voice that wasn't a voice.

I've never actually told anyone that lol, but it did fuck me up as a kid. Especially since I lost a couple times. But I still *feel* like I have my soul, so I guess it didn't count.

Also there was the blue headed fuck that appeared for like 2 seconds total, and he says "you're not perfect". I think courage was having nightmares about tests or something. It's not what he said, but the creepy claymation and deformed figure that scared me

This. I first saw this thread days ago and was going to post this exact movie. I was about 6 years old when I saw this shit. Scared the shit out of me especially the scene with the snake eyeball thing that got chopped with axe.
I've seen it since as an adult and it is just a silly "creature double feature" movie now. The remake was OK I guess.
>>
>>18966734
the unhappy original end to the movie is so so much better than the happy one IMO

wasn't really I kid, I was already a teen when it came out. Something about the choppy animation, the gruesome and taboo subject of the song (necrophilia mostly), and the eerie sound of the song Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold. It fucked me up a bit at the time desu.

There was this show I watched as a child with these crude puppets that were pirates. There was always something a little off about the show and I even remember an episode where they all just screamed for like 10 minutes. Anyone else remember this?

It aired from 2006-2009. The target age group for that show would be around 20 now.

One night, when I was about 6, me and my sister were just trying to find something to watch and my dad changed it onto some kind of animated movie with rabbits. I have distinctly remembered one of the rabbits dying a brutal and bloody death after being trapped in a snare for years afterward. I recently discovered that this movie is named "Watership Down" and is, in fact, not a friendly children's movie!

Any Dutchfag who watched Ik Mik Loreland in school (a show that taught language) was fucking traumatized.

They had this troll character who haunted the main character (girl in pic).
He showed up out of nowhere, looked scary as fuck since they showed this to like,... 4-5 year olds.
Not only did he look hideous but spooky music started playing, it fucked with your head and his voice.

Fortunatly i had bad eyesight and could remove my glasses but girls and even boys started crying pretty much every week and needed to be removed from class when we had to watch this shit.

One time when I was about five or six I caught a baby tree frog in the front yard. It was about the size of a nickel. I brought it inside and asked my dad if I could keep it as a pet - he said no, but I could keep it for a couple hours if I put it in something. He found a really big, clear plastic container, the kind pretzels or cheese balls come in, and took it outside to put some grass and sticks in it. I was so excited about getting to watch the frog hop around and climb up the sides with its sticky hands; after my dad was done setting up its "environment" I put the frog inside the container and began to put the screw-on lid on. But tree frogs are very fast. They jump very high, and stick very well.

I put the lid on, and began screwing it down. It was only after I'd finished securing it - nice and tight, so there was no chance of a frog escape - that I looked in and saw the little leg hanging down from the top. Just the leg. I panicked, unscrewed the lid as fast as I could and found the remnants of what was my new pal, ground into the threads. Its guts oozing out of its flattened body, the one intact leg still desperately twitching to escape.

I had nightmares for weeks.
