what cartoon freaked you out the most as a kid but you had to keep watching the episode/show?
The Head (1994-1996):
>"Created by Eric Fogel, The Head is the story of Jim, a trade-school student in New York City who awakens one morning to find that his cranium has enlarged to mammoth proportions. A week later, out bursts Roy, a little purple alien with an odd sense of humor who has taken up residence in Jim's head. Roy needed a place to stay to adapt to the Earth's environment while on a mission to save the world from a power-hungry alien named Gork."

there were some weird shows on in the 90's for kids. i remember another animated series about cockroaches and the filth in someone's apartment and what the bugs were up to when the guy was out/sleeping. can't remember the name though
Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999-2002):
>"Courage the Cowardly Dog is an American animated horror comedy children's television series created by John R. Dilworth for Cartoon Network as part of the network's Cartoon Cartoons block. It follows a purple anthropomorphic beagle who lives with a married elderly couple in the middle of Nowhere. The trio are frequently thrown into bizarre misadventures, often involving the paranormal/supernatural. The series is known for its dark, surreal humor and atmosphere."

Give it up for the Canucks, eh?
Todd McFarlane's Spawn (1997-1999):
>"The series centered around the story of an ex-serviceman named Al Simmons, who fought in the Vietnam War as a commando. He was betrayed and killed by a man whom he believed to be his close friend (the man, Chapel, burned him alive with a flamethrower). Upon his death, Simmons vowed revenge on Chapel and hoped that he would one day return to his beloved wife Wanda."
>"In order to accomplish his vow, he makes a pact with the Malebolgia (who was the overlord on the eighth plane of Hell)."

Speaking of odd/creepy cartoons, captain star, Howard the duck, CyberSix, and also Duck man were some rare pleasures when I stayed up late at night as a kid.
>>18941423
Yep Duckman was the creepy weird one.
Another weird/crazy/sadistic one is pic related.
O Canada , an abstract artsy cartoon that used to come on late night old school Cartoon Network before adult swim sometime around 96-98 had some really disturbing death scenes and the such came on around 2am or something like that

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou (2013)
>"Nine students gather in their high school at night to bid farewell to a friend. As is customary among many high school students, they perform a sort of ritual for good luck using small paper charms shaped like dolls.
However, the students do not realize that these charms are connected to Heavenly Host Academy—an elementary school that was destroyed years ago after a series of gruesome murders took place, a school that rests under the foundation of their very own Kisaragi Academy."

Holy shit thanks. I've been trying to find this for years. I remember one episode (I'm not even sure it was this show) where a kid gets beat up by his parents. They kill his pet parrots and the kid end up dying at the factory he's working in. Shit was disturbing.

I think he's talking about Twilight of the Cockroaches, which features traditional cel animation. Very similar premise but Twilight has more existential angst.

I wished they had finished it all instead of stopping just a bit into the comics. It's one of the few comic to cartoon/movies that didn't fuck everything up.
more wtf than creepy, i thought he was a cool 'superhero' kek
The Tick (1994-1996)
>"The Tick is a superhero who underwent the tryouts at the National Super Institute in Reno, Nevada where superheroes who pass will be assigned to the best cities to protect from crime. Upon passing the tryouts, he is assigned to The City where he befriends a former accountant named Arthur whom he takes on as a sidekick.
With the aid of Die Fledermaus, American Maid, Sewer Urchin, and other superheroes, the Tick and Arthur protect The City from bad guys like Chairface Chippendale, Breadmaster, El Seed, The Terror, and others who would harm it."

I was really young, like 3 or 4 maybe. My mother fell asleep on the couch while watching cartoons with me, the old ones they showed on Boomerang late at night. I decided that since she was sleeping, I could stay up and watch cartoons as long as I wanted. After like 5 episodes of Tom and Jerry, the Halloween episode came on where Tom and Jerry were living in a witch's house and did their usual shit with a slightly Halloweenish flavor. Super tame stuff. At the end of the episode, the witch flew off cackling, and I decided I'd go to bed, proud of myself for watching something scary. Woke up screaming about 30minutes later (this would've been really late, I could barely keep my eyes open watching the show), and my mom never found out about my cheeky transgression
>>18940558
Dunno what the name is but it was of some claymation aliens trying to repair their ship and go home from some barren ass planet. One was yellow and they were short. Pic related they sorted looked like Krunk without hair and all one uniform color. Shit gave me hella nightmares as a toddler but my mother never stopped me from watching it still.
>>18941437
Oh shit that show was freak
>>18945195
sounds kind of like plasmo
>>18940558
Oh this one cartoon when I was a kid, it was spooky as hell. It was about this kid who had a crazy alcoholic grandpa, and the grandpa was a scientist who did dear sci-fi shit and got the boy almost kid a lot. Good times

When I was a kid, we didn't have creepy cartoons; the closest we got were the puppet designs on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Fuckin' Lady Elaine!
