Do dogs sense the paranormal?
>>
>>18938968
yes

Not just dogs, but other animals too
>>
Animals reacting odd is a pretty good indication that what your doing is working
>>
I'm sure they can. Plenty of testimonies for that fact.

I know young children can as well. Both of my nephews are visited by my dead father, and they have 'conversations'. There will also be moments when they stare at his picture for awhile and talk to it.
>>
>>18938968

if digits yes
if no go to hell
>>
You can too, you have just tuned it out.

these dogs look more like they got a bad gift from their aunt but dont want to be rude so they smile and say "t-thank you"
>>
allthough the prove is mainly ignored by mainstream sience, the telephatic behaviour of socials oriented mammals, including humans has been scientifically tested and documented by some creditable scientists. example by rupert sheldrake.

no . dogs are dumb. they sense changes in air pressure

spiders sense the ethereal . its why they make webs. sure its simple to think they just do it based on instinct but realistically thats just crazy talk. its not even remotely reasonable to think shitting out silk and sticking it to stuff to make a net even makes sense for something with so few neurons.its emulating what it sees which is reasonable

roaches have "brains" about the same size and always turn the same direction when they run into a wall and run when they feel wind on them by instinct

>a spider behaving based on it's instinct is crazy talk
this is a whole new level of dumb. Surely every living being is capable of being aware of the 'ethereal' as you called it, which is extremely vague for the record, but their instinct to makes webs, which is gathering food for their physical bodies, is not related to that sense of the 'ethereal'.

I don't give a fuck about spider nonsense but dogs and cats are special and they definitely sense something. Just visit any haunted place and take your dog or cat with you.

Possibly.

>first summer moving back home after freshman year of college
>had my mom's apartment all to myself for the summer
>fuckin drankin rum and playing binding of isaac every fucking night
>one night woke up to the sound of my dog snarling
>she was staring at the top corner of my room and growling
>hairs on her back full on stiff and standing up
>I try to calm her down and immediately just start smelling this awful rotting meat smell
>legit filled the room in seconds
>check clock, around 3 AM
>ohfuck.jpg

I wasn't even a Christian at the time and literally grabbed my laptop and started googling pictures of Christ and biblical prayers until the smell stopped.

It could have been some javelinas or something walking in the desert outside my house, but shit was creepy as fuck and idk how I would smell it on the second story of an apartment complex so strongly.

The amount of things they do with the webs it's amazing, consider that jumping spiders don't even build webs for catching but instead made houses and bridges with them.
>>
>>18941754

>>
idk about ghost but dogs do sense natrual diasters. out here in cali wen our dogs start running around barking like crazy it usually means an earthquake is coming, its weird becasue all of a sudden ull hear a buncha dogs jus freakin out.
>>
>>18942044
>sense natrual diasters
Dogs have breddy good hearing. My hearing is shit, but geared towards the higher frequencies, a couple years ago when we had all the fracking-related quakes (pretty far away from faultlines) I would hear a strange creak at my upper hearing limit (dogs would freak out before I heard this) before the quake. I wasn't the only one hearing it either, I know a few people that did. Similarly dogs can sense air pressure differences and are pretty good at detecting storms, too.
>>
>>18940161
Simple brains doesn't mean they can't be smart. Aren't scientists researching snails a lot because they're capable of solving some simple puzzles even though they only have like 2 neurons?

>getting ready to go to school one day
>dog won't stop tagging me and trying to keep me from leaving
>he usually tags me and stuff but more playful and passive
>however this time he is actively trying to push me away from the door
>start to remember shit about dogs sensing bad things
>parents drop me off at school and I immediately cut class and leave the school

Apparently, in a class I cut, a ceiling light panel fell and landed on the desk I was assigned to, and it fell during the time I would have been sitting there.

Ever since then, everytime my dog is actively trying to stop me at the door, I listen.

Pic related, he's fucking tiny, but he put up a fight

Makes me wanna tear up. I'm not a dog lover but it's obvious dogs have some sort of sixth sense, and people hurt them anyways. It's a shame. Animals are truly amazing
>>
>spooky movie
>dog sees ghost
>gets scared and hides

this makes no sense. have even seen this shit in 'based on a true story' ghost movies. how would a dog even know what the fuck a ghost is, or why its presumably a scary thing? they don't have the mental capacity to grasp such a concept. for all the dog knows its just another person in the room

>and thats about enough autism for one day

no, because to a dog there isn't normal and paranormal. it's all the same
if it's not food, something i do to get food, or something threatening the providers of my food. who cares

Lived 13 years in a 150+ year-old house. The scariest moments I ever experienced were at nignt with my dog(s). Every dog we ever had slept with me and sometimes I would wake up to it snarling and growling at seemingly nothing. It wasn't a rat in the wall. She was never facing somewhere where a rat could have been hiding. My other dogs did it too. It's creeping me out just thinking about it.

>>18942113
Your dog is so cute! Wow. What kind?

>>18942061
I grew up on the water. Whenever there was a big storm approaching our dogs would come inside hours before the storm hit. Usually they would stay out all day but they were great indicators that bad weather was coming. They can sense a change in barometric pressure or something like that.
>>
>>18943183
Even semi-intelligent dogs have the mental capacity to recognize oddities in what they perceive as "normal". Most will know when someone or something isn't familiar, hence why guard dogs exist. My dog goes into a completely different mode if someone he doesn't recognize comes on his territory. I would imagine it could really freak a dog out to see a stranger or a ghost suddenly appear in his house. Dogs can be very sensitive to their environment. You must not spend much time around dogs.
>>
>>18938968
I'm not sure my dog can even see me. When I'm far away enough. More likely for animals that haven't been bred for domestication for a dozen generations. With instinct intact.
>>
>>18943274
But yes. I just think that like people, some more than others, for sure.
>>
>>18938968
My dog can sense when I am about to have a seizure. I don't think that's paranormal though.
>>
>>18943284
Thats actually pretty cool, not the seizure part but that your dog can sense it.
How do you react to your dog when he senses it? Do you freak out or are you just like "oh well, here we go"?
>>
>>18943263

>You must not spend much time around dogs.

elaborate?
>>
>>18943289
You lay down. That's all you can do when an episode is about to happen. Preferably in your side. If anyone ever has a seizure you don't need to do anything other then turn them on thier side and make sure thier head doesn't hit the floor too hard.

This topic has such a great potential.

There is a spoopy greentext going around about a german boy who lived with a korean family and they owned a bunch of Jindos (korean national dog). Those are supposed to watch over you against spirits, amongst other things.

Does anyone know about other breeds / different cultures?
>>
>>18943298
You must not spend much time around dogs if you've somehow never noticed how their behavior tends to change a bit (sometimes drastically) around strangers and unfamiliar things.
