In addition to the WPRI-TV footage, Matt Pickett (one of the victims of the fire) brought an audio recorder to the show that night to tape the concert. The recorder was later found in the aftermath and restored by the FBI.

The sounds of people screaming and crying as they burn to death were recorded as the venue burned down and the contents of the tape have never been released to the public.

It was a sketchy club that used bootleg sound dampening for a 80s boy band that loves sparklers.

Because it's melted and cannot be restored. Cassette tapes couldn't survive a hot car, they certainly could not survive a building engulfed in flames

I'd never actually watched the video before. Wow... wtf were they doing with pyrotechnics in that place with such a low ceiling and no exits. It also looks like they sold every square inch in tickets. This was a perfect shitstorm waiting to happen.

Not exactly, but a lot and I mean a LOT of people are more haunted by this video than some of the most fucked up shit theyv'e seen on the Internet for some reason even though it's not really that graphic. You hear screams, you see dead bodies, that's about it.

When I first saw it I didn't think much of it. Maybe I was expecting it to be a lot worse since so many people hyped it up that way, but it just wasn't.

I'm guessing it's more relatable in the sense that it happened in the U.S. and we're just more indifferent to atrocities that occur in other countries because of the language barrier.

I was leaving Providence, I was supposed to go to that concert, instead I went to a nightclub called "The Complex". My friend and teammate (football) Jimmy G. was at the Great White fire, he died. Nicest kid in the world. Friendly, Athletic good looking, a total Chad. I watched that video and it still haunts me to this day. Fucking horrible.

I live right down the street from where the club used to be. I know some of the firefighters that were there that night. They're all pretty haunted by that one. They won't talk about it, they just say it was 'horrible'.

They're building a park there now. Hope there's not to many spoopy ghosts around when it opens.

After watching some of the witness videos of the place burning down I found it pretty crazy how many people on the street were lighting up cigarettes and smoking not even 10 minutes after narrowly escaping from the burning venue.
