I used to watch my older brother play SNES games when I was a youngin and one of my favorite games was Demon's Crest.
Pic related is the first boss in the game and whenever you'd start a new game he'd peer through the bars in background and for whatever reason that little glance scared the piss out of me every fucking time.

When I was around 4 years old, I used to have this recurring nightmare.

I would be laying in my bed and suddenly drum like sounds would start a rythm that resembled a beating heart.
The drum beats would get faster and faster and at the climax of the sounds, my door would burst open and this 8 foot tall shadow creatures, with long ass hands would come into my room and grab me by the heels.
Then they would drag me through the entire corridor into my living room, after that they would come near my face, as I laid in the ground terrified, and whisper "shhhh".

I had this nightmare multiple times as a kid and oddly eough, from time to time I would wake up in the living room.
Im still not sure it was just a nightmare.

when i was little, i would sleep walk and when i'd be woken up, the world wouldn't feel real. i'd see my parents' faces and they'd start morphing in these evil looking caricatures, and be magnified beyond normal, that would start grinning at me. the room air would be all wavy and felt like i was slipping away. I would start screaming because of it ( i was 3 or 4). scared my poor parents to death.

there was also the times i would be awoken to the faces on the walls. white faces, very basic looking faces. some were smiling, some just staring, but the ones that scared me were the angry looking ones. it would just be a white face, like if a flashlight spot on a wall had a fully formed face. they were all over the walls, moving and sliding around. they'd never touch, and there was always about two - three feet between them. i'd scream then too, parents would rush in and i'd still see them until they turned on the lights and the ligth washed them out.

I had pretty bad asthma as a kid, and had to take this awful green liquid medicine. doctors thought that was giving me nightmares. I think I just have some sort of brain problem, like ocd or something that contributed as a kid.

When I was 3 we moved from an apartment to a house that was on a deadend street. Every night until we moved when I was 9 I'd wake-up in the middle of the night, I'd go down stairs when I was younger it was to go to my parents room, past that water then food, although almost every night I'd end up in my parents room due to fear never actually getting water or food. At first it was seeing my neighbor stand in the front living room window that would send me running, over the time he would he holding signs, sometimes trying to get me outside sometimes threating me I now have insomnia and night terrors so I am unaware if this was dream or real, although I did have nightmare's before with him in it. I have more stories from this fucked up house and subdivision if Anyone is interested in hearing more.

Pic related is my first movie/tv related traumatic experience. I can't remember if it was Critters 1 or 2, and I don't know why they would show it to a bunch of kids at the local rec center, but they did, and my dad took my me and my sister to see it for some reason. I remember pissing myself partway through, and running to the bathroom crying. I had just learned to ride my bike around that time, and I was always getting my shoe laces caught in the chain, which led to me being stranded on the side of the road out in the woods (upstate New York) caught in my bike chain bawling my eyes out for someone to come save me before the critters got me.

The time I had realized I was molested.
When I was 4-5 years old, I remember my little brother's dad let me look at his magazines of Hustler and Penthouse. I'd seen this video he hid away too of some orgy film.
After sometime, I wasn't allowed to go to his place after school anymore. When I moved to the Netherlands, I finally tried smoking pot. It was fucking scary. Mad paranoia, that would only calm down over time, always sure someone was coming to get me.
I found out later from my mother, that the porn magazines weren't the only reason I wasn't allowed back. Turns out he was letting me smokes pot. I told her no, he let me try his cigarettes there but not pot. She argued I was 5, how would I know then... Well, she made a point I thought.
Then one day at home having a few beers, I was surfing some conspriacy stuff over in a David Icke fan forum. That's when I saw pic related.
It spossedly has something to do with the Johnny Golsh case. But I remember seeing this pic, and suddenly having flashbacks of what I guess was suppressed memories. Of being tied up in my underwear, photos being taken of me, being held under these large biker like guys. Then I remembered back as a kid at my grandmother's house, after taking a shower I was stand in front of the mirror trying to look at my anus wondering why it was there.
Even after all these memories coming back it took me years to accept.

One time me and my friends (we were all about 12) we're waking through this pathway
that was right near an old/abandoned train station and this other guy and myself saw a kid in full red attire wave at us and than ran right into said train station.
The place was locked from the inside out but there was a small alcove underneath the platform that had a ladder that went right into the station.
We chased after him and followed him and lo and behold we couldn't find him anywhere inside this station.
There was no way in besides that ladder and the station was pretty small to say the least.
We stayed in there for about half an hour trying to coax him out but nothing. Our group consisted of about 5-6 guys and only me and this other kid claimed to have seen him but the others didnt see anything.

There's some other mum stories and I fell head over heels for a compulsive liar in high school which eroded my self esteem to nothing over. But this thread is about being a kid.

I don't remember anything in specific that traumatized me, I remember Wallace and gromit the wrong trousers creeper me out mildly. I had a friend who claimed she could talk to ghosts and do stuff like bloody Mary in the school bathrooms (which also freaked me out, the bathrooms I mean) so I was terrified of her for a bit. I think the main thing though was that I had a very overactive imagination as a kid (and still do) and if I thought of something creepy I'd lay there in bed curled up in a ball with the covers over my head, afraid whatever it was was right beside my bed watching me.
On a slightly unrelated note though, apparently I always brought books home from the library that my mom thought were kinda creepy, so it's very likely that contributed to my childhood fears.

Had a nightmare when I was probably 6-7, I was in a concrete/brick (almost clastle looking) rock room. With the brave little toaster, there was this green goo lady who was made out of acid.

She was trying to be really nice to me and come near me but I instinctively knew she was made out of acid and she would burn me to death if she touched me (but there wasnt any malice behind her trying to come near me). Anyway the character from "The brave little toaster" was also there sitting on a shelf, and there was a cot so now looking back on it I think I was actually in some strange dungeon. No clue if this was some sort of change in my child brain sexualizing something and personifying it as dangerous because I knew I wasnt suppose to have feelings like that - but It scared the ever living shit out of me.
