I thought you all would find the following paper interesting https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00792R000300390001-2.pdf

The paper studies Zhang Baosheng (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhang_Baosheng) and asserts that he is able to pass items through physical barriers. Interestingly enough for Zhang, his is one of the few paranormal entries on Wikipedia that has no attempt at debunking or commentary from skeptics.

The paper claims that videotape and high speed photography were recorded. Anyone have a copy of this or know how to track it down?

Also I've been trying to pull the citation from footnote #1 one the first page: Nature Magazine 4,9(1981)652

I can't find such a paper in Nature's archives. Could be a sloppy cite, not sure what's up with that.

The researchers conclude emphatically that this paranormal ability, as they term it, actually exists.

Discuss and share other good papers.

I'm pretty ignorant qigong but I realized the other day that Falun Gong practices it. Is that part of the reason why China seeks to eradicate the organization--out of fear?
>>
>>18931176
my girl is from China and everytime I mention Falun Gong she immediatly goes to no-chill saying that they're cultists and commit mass suicides.

Now i never came across any of that before, but i do agree that any mass movement will have a bunch of sheep regardless who don't know the deeper levels. But still its crazy how much hatred is sown into the average Chinese citizen about that group.

I mean they freakin harvest their organs and shit for being members of that group. Something isn't right.
>>
I'd like to warn you guys that I don't vouch specifically for any of the dudes, they are just very interesting.
I researched this stuff a while ago so I don't remember a lot of the names of the really hectic peeps.

Also btw in china traditionally chi is a real thing that only the strongest people can master.
As far as I know even the governement accepts it's existence and they do scientific testing.

sounds sorta like how governments and institutions throughout the ages continually have tried to suppress the knowledge handed down by the Mystery Schools. or being labeled a conspiracy theorist :)

Nah from what I have heard falun gong is really evil, other qigong masters really don't like them...

Supposedly the leader of falun gong kills and rapes and eats people and shit like that...

also their practices are quite unusual and point towards opening a sort of vessel for entities to inhabit people

My wife who is also Chinese does the same thing. Then again, after reading some material from Li Hongzhi... I can't help but to think he is insane. The exercises are legit tho.

Protip: Never mention or ever let her see you doing research on the Mao shan sect.

quick lesson fo yous.
most people who know anything usefull will not training you, because your a westerner, and your customs and beliefs are more or less against these sorts of things. westerners have a tendency to defile everything.
and your energy or chi is about the hardest thing in your body to control properly, you have to have an active awareness of your bodies processes with in.
the only demonstration i have ever seen of someone demonstrating more control than me is, dynamo jack

Weird considering the CIA thing, makes me think it was related to black ops

Not black ops as in killing people with psychic murderers or something..But blacks ops as in making Russia believe we were developing psychic abilities

You do this because you know it doesn't exist and then their superstitious backwards government isn't quite so sure and proceeds to spend tens of millions of dollars on it. Tricks like this have been played many times in wars and regional conflicts

How does this relate to chakras and meditation? Eastern philosophy appeals to me in the aspect that our mind power is our most powerful tool. Anybody know more about this guy?

could be except this seems to be about work being done in China, and appears to be a paper not written in-house (the reading room has many documents that are simply periodicals that were circulated internally)

further the CIA mentions in one such document that one of the best parts about psi research is out inexpensive it is, making it not the best rabbit hole for wasting enemy resources.

were it not for the fact that Russell Targ, one of the scientists who did a lot of the research (and who cowrote the NASA paper linked above) is still giving talks saying that it's real, and were there not a lot of other info (e.g. see the google presentation from Dean Radin) i'd be inclined to agree with you.
>>
>>18934757
i should also add that the Chinese and USSR governments have apparently conducted their own research and which agrees with the CIA's (sure, i suppose could be counter-disinfo, *shrug*)

plus there's the whole aspect of this being embedded in ancient and esoteric human lore. sure is suggestive.
>>
>>18934527
lastly, check out the paper i link in >>18932245 if you haven't already (full disclosure i'm still working my way through it)

the paper was written about a product that the Monroe Institute sells (the Gateway Experience). the monroe institute was set up by the guy who discovered binaural beats.
>>
>>18934779
>binaural beats
>learn about that shit in like 1999
>lie down and do some beta waves
>suddenly hallucinate that i'm in a dark barn
>see a floating burlap sack of grain, i know it's a sack of grain or corn or seed or something
>a hand with a sickle slashes across the bag horizontally and it was like a disemboweled person with organs and gore pouring out

noped the fuck out of that one real quick. and i'm not one of these people who larps on /x/ i promise you i really hallucinated that off beta waves..

I'm formerly a skeptic myself. But you can't simply discard evidence because it disagrees with your materialist view of how the world works. Above I've cited several pieces of data for you and you discard them based not on your own evidence but based upon your intuition that they can't be real. OK, well in that case I guess there isn't much more room for discussion. This is a thread for presenting data not for making baseless assertions.

Regarding the "schizo" US army paper on binaural beats, I can speak specifically to what the paper mentions about transcendental meditation based upon my own personal experience. It truly rewires your mind in a way that mindfulness meditation does not. You feel exactly the vibration that the paper mentions; you feel it inside your skull. Words can't express it. You need to experience it for yourself.

Here is the rip off of TM that I used. Try it with a truly open mind for a few weeks and see what happens. Don't listen to the mp3 until the manual instructs you.

>But you can't simply discard evidence because it disagrees with your materialist view of how the world works

Yes, you can. It's called common sense. The idea that someone might one day have a singular startling insight about the nature of reality is acceptable. The idea that individuals are privy to this massive, precise, textbook godly knowledge and it's just waiting out there for us to take it is schizophrenia. You don't live in reality if you cannot discern between possible and impossible.

>transcendental meditation
and this has precisely what to do with fucking weird ass astral diagrams of the universe as a seed pod with a "white hole" at the middle? The document you linked has nothing to do with TM and binaural beats and everyhting to do with pure, ascientific fucking lunacy.
>>
>>18934911
Well again, as I've noted I'm still working my way through the paper. With that said: TM is discussed on pages 3-5 of the document.

With that said, I did skim to look at the diagrams and saw, for example, the mention of the Cosmic Egg. This I found quite interesting as the same concept is mentioned in Manly P Hall's Lectures on Ancient Philosophy, which suggests to me that eventually the document starts integrating knowledge passed down from the so-called mystery schools.

My guess is this 'white hole' is probably an esoteric symbolic concept. Maybe try looking for value in the things you understand instead of denigrating the things you don't.
