So, I unpacked Henre last night and he is beautiful and here just in time for the feast day of Zarabanda today.

Used to be reading/practicing for years, to no avail.
Continuous failures rendered me completely jaded and made me quit the whole ordeal roughly a year ago.

Still attracted to the idea, can't convince myself to get back to it. Just seems pointless doing something while knowing you'll never succeed.
Nowadays I fully expect myself to never succeed which makes me unable to succeed - a vicious cycle.

Well, I understand there's a certain mystique inherent in the idea, and it's certainly not inconceivable that somebody could be initiated by their grandmother. The issue here, is that magick is a business, and people spin these exaggerated granny stories to give themselves a bit more credibility than their competitors (which leads to their competitors whipping up more extravagant narratives; tragedy of the commons, lol)

My own grandmother (requiescat in pace), from whom I take my middle name, taught me to carry buckeyes for good fortune, and how to use psalms for protection or to bless a home. She was an old appalachian spiritualist, and she may well have been my gateway into witchcraft, but I doubt she ever would have considered herself a witch, and I have too much respect for her to turn her into a granny story. :T

Third, the understanding of similar or related techniques to those you are most interested in can be helpful in understanding the underlying cosmologies and philosophical foundations they are based on.

For all these reasons and more, we tend to study many different fields and backgrounds of magic, divination and philosophy.

In my experience magick tends to work with the path of least resistance and often goes a completely different way to achieve the end than you had planned. So, yes, it could, but she isn't going to just pop out of the sky and be everything you ever wanted. Magick will likely produce a "change within you" and "realign the universe" so to speak such that you get what you wanted. Just be careful what you wish for...

Don't listen to the others. It's perfectly fine to print books at copyshops so long as you just say you need to print some long documents, not specifying that they are STOLEN and ILLEGAL! Best to say you're a university student and need these for some thesis of yours and to not print all at once but print one, read it, come back for the next one, read it and so on. Also, print some scientific articles too, you'll need them anyway if you want to get a grasp of the world.
