Just a thought: Santa has been made real. And there is no way to put that cat back in the bag.
See when he was created, it was agreed that Santa was a tulpa, a thought-form. Well, that makes the myth cool. Save for the fact by adding the whole "If you think about him, you make him real" Makes him real. A thought, billions of thoughts, about one entity, spread out across several years gives the thought a form. A Meme, repeated over an over, almost psuedo-religiously, could lead to a tulpa, If it were already accepted to be a tulpa, then thinking about how thinking about Santa might make him real(even though we know he is not).
But then there is no evidence save a bunch of children, who are insane claiming Santa gives them presents. It's insane. Which is of course one gift Santa was tacked with, giving people presents. Now even more people are interested in this guy because, "Whoa, he gives presents to children." So that has even more thought in the engine, for even more power. Which begs the question, If you were a half formed tulpa with enough power to effect the physical world, you wouldn't have free will enough to exercise it outside of your nature. The more we think about him, the more he exists, because it was stated that he exist because we think about him. And now that you know the previous statement, he exist even more, because you now suspect, thinking about how thinking about him makes him strong, makes him strong. Thoughts?

Santa is a tulpa. I saw him as a kid, the strong influence of thought made it happen. That is how tulpas work yes. I saw him walk in, do a speed run and sparkles flew and he went out the back and I saw him fly away all within 20 seconds. In reality the presents were already there but the strong thought form of everybody saying santa was coming made me see him come.
santa is real
People knew Santa before you were born. They'll know him long after you've been forgotten. In a sense he's more real than you are.
