>Man, robotic and AI technology has come so far, we can make so much cool shit now, what should be make next?
>Oh, how about a disturbing fleshly looking robot that convulses and screams in agony?
>...But why?
>>18913212
Don't forget that it seems to be pissing as well for whatever reason.
>>18913191
>>18913208
It's a SynDaver. The inventor was on Shark Tank.
>>18913220

Kinda fucked up. Thanks though

>Why?
Simple enough; This is an incomplete model of an android meant to simulate a human being as much as possible. Further progress in this area can get us not only towards better androids, but also better prosthetic technology.
They're going to be doing a lot of weird tests and creations like this to get a good picture on what they can do and what their goals look like, as well as just generally trying different things out.
That's what experimentation is. This shit is naturally going to look creepy to us, because they're going to be doing pretty much every little bizarre thing they can do with various robot parts meant to simulate human body parts.
So its a really easy mine for disturbing images of all kinds.
Of course, its not entirely without warrant. Electricity is what runs our brain and body. Once it leaves, you are dead. "You" is only a genralized concept that has meaning at our, for lack of a better term, level of existence; At the cellular level, we are shifting peaces and at the atomic level it gets even stranger, with atoms shifting around constantly and don't get me started on quantum level shit.
Consciousness can't be explained because it is composed of an infinite number of facts decided by pure random chance that is impossible to fully understand. Only at the very base of these infinite facts, of which you can only know a finite number, lies the answer to the question of consciousness and reality, however the concept evolves.
We have no real control over ourselves. If I want ice cream, I want ice cream. I only stop myself from having ice cream because we have a finite reserve of will to help us prioritize the things we "want".
In the end, we are nothing but esoteric RNG machines.
So, if these robots are receiving the same energy that powers our brains and makes us conscious, living beings, how do we know they are not suffering when we create them to imitate the reaction a human being would have in their current state?
>>18913383
In truth, ethics aside, if they react to pain and suffering the same as us, it is no different than inflicting pain and suffering on a human.
It received an input, it recognized the input as what one might call "pain" and output an attempt to stop the "pain".
For a "robot" to be made for these experiments is to suffer.
Fuck synths
>>18913383
What's the need for it to be leaking fluid?
Seems impractical.
>>18913416
We don't know the purpose of this android. For all we know its designed explicitly for medical students to learn about the human body and maybe the water is supposed be urine or something.
Or it could be designed for some bizarre art project.
Or maybe the fluid isn't even being leaked and there is some kind of accident in the building or they tried to wash it in a very strange way.
Who knows?
But you're saying it "seems impractical" when you have absolutely no idea what its purpose is. Of course it *seems* impractical under those circumstances...
>>18913191
This is so horrible that I can't help but laugh
>>18913494
Why make a robot that piss himself?
The art project makes sense, but still why have it in a lab, any accident will mean that they sop that thing and clean, cause cables and shit, but seems designed to piss himself.
I feel dirty destroying the creep factor like this, but I found out what this is.
Apparently, its a prototype of a "simulated cadaver" to help medical students learn about the human body. The webm shows the SynDaver in an incomplete stage.
As it stands, medical students usually learn about the human body by examining human corpses that obviously can't really do a whole lot or are harder to procure or whatever.
I think this is supposed to solve some of these issues.

>>18913515
*shows this SynDaver prototype in an incomplete stage I mean.
>>18913515
So my wild guess that it might be piss is probably more correct than I thought... I guess?...
>>18913515
I mean I'm not a doctor but cadavers normally stay still.
That thing don't stay still.
>>18913622
I guess its because I wrote my comment poorly.
I should've emphasized and re-phrased this part
>[...] human corpses that obviously can't really do a whole lot
A big part of their reasons for making this could be that it is capable of movement and while a corpse is not.
The things inside the body can actually perform their related function, letting people see these things up close without having to cut something up.
The organs move, the muscles and bones move and so forth.
Pretty straight-forward.
>>18913191
Samefag as this again >>18913683
P.S. protip when trying to make a creepy story or post with a video:
Make sure to cap the video and do an image search on google first to be sure its not easily debunked with MS paint.
>>18913683
So you can practice operating as if it's a real human body but without the risk of killing someone in the process?
That's pretty cool, to be honest.
>>18913191
I'm concerned I'd do more harm than good.
Sex robots when?
>>18914511
Long philosophical porn doujin discussing conscious reality at the quantum level as well as the differences, lack thereof, between an electronic brain and a biological brain, which somehow ends in the villain 'proving' all robot bitches ain't nothing but hoes and tricks when?
>>18914556
soma was good
>>18913406
i'd imagine if whatever "they" are in regards to these kind of experiments are truly alive, then it is a hellish existence, perhaps worse then any human could experience
from the moment they become conscience, they only know pain (at least in that vid), no love, no light, only pain
if its true, then the creators deserve to suffer
>>18913191
Can't wait til I get my pneumatic leg pistons fitted.
>>18914658
That's bullshit. All of that is bullshit.
These androids aren't suffering pain, they're imitating it.
Relax. The future will be fine.
>>18914658
>>18914716
Alright, fine. I admit it. I was pretty much just memeing when I made that consciousness argument. I only said it because we're on /x/ and I was trying to keep the thread interesting without breaking /x/'s vibe.
I figured if anyone thought about my post enough, they would realize it was all bullshit any way.
Basically, I tried to save the thread from becoming boring/non-/x/ by making a terrible attempt to fuck with people's heads.
lol no
>>18914745
Yeah, sorry. There's nothing paranormal about androids and technology.
>>18914774
You haven't looked into the idea of advanced broken AI technology if you're saying that like it's not at least splitting hairs on /x/. Especially space alien AI.

Harlan Ellison would like a word with you.

What?
more just being plain ol' mean to robots footage
Will this be used as evidence against us by AI in the future?

SynDaver Labs - Shark Tank
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMXlvlu5ZlQ
>>18913416
The fluid is almost certainly hydraulic fluid, and with all the tubes going into it (likely part of the control system), it's probably just leaks from when they were plugging it up (or unplugging it) from the control system.
>>18913191
This is strikingly similar to a gore video I saw
>>18913191
This kind of research has to stop. We need to cut back on medicine. Our gene code and our connection to earth are fucked up enough as it is.
Dont know why this is so hard to understand. Obviously you could use these dummies as more than just training for autopsies, you could also use them to simulate working on a live patient suffering from one injury or another. It would be a pretty effective training aid, actually, what with the moving around and screaming and such.
>>18919179
People neither move around nor scream when they are sedated for surgery.
If they're not sedated, then either the surgeons need the patient conscious, the surgery does not involve the terrifying aspect of having them cut you open so any of your organs are on display, you some how end up in a situation where there is no way to sedate the patient and its not too comparably risky or mindfuckingly terrifying with them conscious, or the surgery is being done in a Chinese back alley...
