This is basically the plot of Straw Dogs. I've only seen the remake though and it's pretty good. The original was made in the 70s I think.

I think you would enjoy the anime (or better, the visual novel if you can get it) Higurashi no naku koro ni. the first season is mostly a bunch of seemingly disconnected series of murders that play out diferently every few episodes but in the second season you learn more and everything starts to unfold. its a great watch.
