Redpill me on Dr John Dee, the court magician of Queen Elizabeth the 1st.

>What were the macrobes?

>Was Edward Kelly a homonculus?

>Was John Dee the original 007?

>Why did the supposed 'angels' who communicated the enochian system via Kelley's mediumship, tell Dee and Kelly to do
things like wife swapping?

>Did John Dee send Kelly on a secret mission to Zipangu in order to gather an occult formulae (amrita magatama) that supopsedly assisted in the defeat of the spanish armada?

>Who raided and robbed John Dee's library and where did the majority of his books end up?

Hit me with your John Dee knowledge /x/. I find this historical figure most fascinating.

This guy is linked to rosicrucianism right?
>>
>>18885061
He was the originater of the enochian system. As for rosicrucianism, im not sure. Its entirely possible but I dont know that much about them, save they are some esoteric-christian sect with an interest in scrying. John Dee was a boss at scrying so its very possible he had some connection with similar occult groups. Were they about in Dee's day (early 1600s)

>As for rosicrucianism, im not sure.
Hieroglyphic Monad is a core text in further Rosicrucian elaboration, especially as it relates to the formulae of LVX and INRI as mystical keywords.

I have Dee's entire Enochian manuscripts that survive from the Sloane Collection in my library over in the occultism & magick thread, along with Ashmole's experiments.

>Dee was a boss at skrying
No, he sucked ass, hence Kelly.
Dee was an Evoker.
>>
>>18885086
Can you maybe elaborate on your thoughts on rosicrucianism? It's super interesting cause my name is Ross and my best friends name is John d Kelly so naturally I'm attracted to it. You're very well read it's well known, could you just share some thoughts maybe?

>No, he sucked ass, hence Kelly.
Kelly was the medium but it was Dee who sifted through and interpreted the information that was divined. Kelly was considered a rogue and a shady character whilst Dee was a lofty intellectual in high standing. Kelly was Dee's instrument essentially.

You seem to know your stuff lad. Have you tried scrying in an obsidian mirror or psychomanteum? If so what did you see?

>that supopsedly assisted in the defeat of the spanish armada?

See, this is why i don't believe in this kind of magic. Spain was one of the heaviest (if not the heaviest) in terms of necromancy. Necromancy was practiced everywhere in Spain, it was taught in classrooms arranged in cemeteries across the country, like some Harry Potter wannabe shit. They had their own dogma and traditions, like the dog meat, celibacies..etc.

If history was impacted by magic, the world would belong to the country with more magic practitioners.

they appear to at least think they are good guys....they seem to be good guys, but many Christians would maintain they are bad guys

they may not actually be good guys and may be masquerading under false ideology

I read a cool book by "the Rosicrucian society" (or something like that) called "Freemasonry and Catholicism".... really cool text....the publisher describes it as "an occult investigation into freemasonry and Catholicism"

I hear that the rosicrucians in the 1600's played a role in the outbreak of the "30 years war" in Germany....the chief German statesman with the Protestants opposing the Catholics was himself a Rosicrucian (and a Protestant Christian) from "the palatinate" who allied with Bohemia against the 'Holy Roman Empire' .....although I understand all of the various interests in that war were not exclusively religious

....so around the same time of the 30 Years War there was a famous 'apocalyptic text' written and in circulation which was itself a work of fiction, but the rosicrucians still revered it for 'divine qualities' for some reason or another

....I don't remember the name of the text, but it was one of the more popular Rosicrucian texts around today

I read that this specific 'apocalyptic text' had a tendency to have an 'apocalyptic effect' on people, if that makes sense

It may have played a role in the actions of the protestants and Catholics in the 30 years war

Apparently it was defeated by weather manipulation. A storm ravaged the armada. John Dee was meant to have conjured said storm.
>>
>>18885111
what is this?
>>
>>18885261
is there any validity to this? that sounds absurd that Spain would have any dealings with necromancy being an ultra-catholic police state, or so we are taught

Is this a shill? Maybe an anti-catholic shill or is your claim legit?
>>
>>18885337
of course the Vatican later divorced itself from the Spanish Inquisition and the Spanish Inquisition certainly wasn't popular sending Jews everywhere across the continent

....definitely, I think you could learn a lot about modern society and how we came to be what we are today by studying the Spanish Inquisition
>>
>>18884735
nioh is the best game of 2017
>>
>>18885348
supposedly the Catholic bishop of England described the Spanish Inquisition as 'satanic'

The jesuits were founded sometime either before or after all of the jesuits fled the Spanish Inquisition

I didn't live in that time, but a lot of spaniards know this. I'd like to clarify that Spain isn't a christian/catholic country at all right now, from 15 to 24 i never met any Christian person from my age, and people under their 40's are usually atheists.

I remember all this necromancy thing from history class when i was in highschool, you can look it up, i never investigated, just took what my teacher told me.

The joke is in the word 'angelic'.
If you believe John Dee really was gifted the language of Angels, you should ask Jesucs to forgive you for getting into the Occult. If you don't believe the Angel part it is just a hoax and you should find out why it is so based or time consuming. .. ;)

John Dee was the first who could use a Swiss Knife to built a jet pack out of duct tape, he was also the model for MacGyver. That why he was called 'Dub All Lows Heaven' , which is the Enochian way to spell '007'.

Kelley was likely a trained Kabbalist who contributed greatly to the design of the temple furniture, or at least Dee's understanding thereof.

I just shot another email to my local O.T.O as per your advice ( I'm the guy who was in touch with them, then the Lodge Master never called)...if they continue not to respond, is there somewhere up the chain I can contact? Or should I write it off and look for a more efficient lodge? (this one is two hours away, next closest is 5+ hours away). I don't mind Working on my own, but I'd like to at LEAST network with some other Thelemites and hook up with them in real life, as I currently know 0 other than you, online.

Hey could you direct me to the SRIA library you mentioned earlier? Can't find your general
>>
>>18886940
>should I write it off and look for a more efficient lodge
If you're writing to a LODGE and not a Camp or Oasis, yeah, I'd write them off.

Their main site SHOULD have a distance communication contact, which you could potentially pester until THEY tell the Local Body to contact you.

There's also a marginal chance your Local Body is in some form of minor or major upheaval. LBM change, the like.

Ok, thanks...not sure about the camp.oasis thing, I'll check their site. IDK if you recall, the lodge is in Buffalo, so IDK if you have any insider info on whether they have any shit going on there, but thanks for the tip, mang.

Lodge.
They should be more open to contact.
See if they have a phone number somewhere you can pester them or just drop in at the next public Mass unannounced.
>>
>>18886989
Ok thanks man!
A little more on topic, what do you typically scry with? glass mirror? Obsidian? Bowl? Shew stone?Something else?
>>
>>18886992
>what do you typically scry with
Typically?
My preferred method is occluded and unshaped crystal.
I really dig obsidian if it's the right quality from the right places but I've not had a suitable hunk in quite some time.

I don't like reflective or transparent surfaces.
>>
>>18887000
Excellent. I really appreciate your help, dude. And the library, for that matter. I hope you have a good night. Catch ya later.
>>
>>18887004
Also, so as not to leave without contributing, I've been using a glass mirror, with mixed results. Thinking of ordering obsidian but everything on amazon looks kinda shitty. Talked to someone in the /div/ board who uses water, somehow. I thought that was cool.

Sweet digits of truth friend.
Dee had access to lots of old occult information including rare manuscripts regarding the druids.
