Tito, the famous "dictator" of Yugoslavia, was half Slovene and half Croatian.

I understand OP's confusion, though. I would have never have heard of Slovenia without my family ties. Most Americans I talk to have no idea where it is, and I have to explain it to them. More than once I've had to correct postal clerks so they didn't send my letter or package to Slovakia.
