What the hell was it?

Not a skin walker story but this literally just happened to me
>living alone
>in the country but I'm right by the interstate

>go to the kitchen for a drink, about 45 minutes ago
>grab a coke from the fridge and head back to my room
>suddenly see headlights from by the gas station
>they 100% weren't there before
>facing directly at the window, not at an angle or anything
>squint, and think nothing of it at first
>until I realize they can't be where they are, because of the huge shed, unless they are parked facing my house in a huge muddy ditch because of recent heavy rain
>stand there and stare at the headlights for a few minutes
>they seem to maybe sway, slightly, but could just be my head swaying as I'm standing around
>watch them a bit more, check locks on all doors
>come back to my room to grab my phone, before going back to watch the headlights
>they seem closer? a few feet closer at most when they are quite a ways away

I'm staying up all night. This happened just at 11 pm my time, it's now 11:51. Gas station closes at 8 every night.

I remember growing up in Oregon (heyo)

The house was a 2 story, with a partial basement underneath (it was only like 2 small rooms down a very short staircase)

I remember somethings very vividily about it before we left in the year we left there

Now my dad loved to play jokes on people regardless of the consequences. He once was so committed to spooking me that he dressed up as a scarecrow and propped himself for 5 hours on halloween just to scaring me. But this wasn't like a joke. He had none of his usual tells on his face, not making eye contact and the like.

again sorry for the green text, this is my first actual effort in trying to convey my life

Thats about it for that encounter. We moved out a few months later for reasons my mother still wont tell me. Dad slowly became the image of the gaunt fake-dad I saw over the months we lived there, and my parents split not long after. I do have a few other stories related to the house and the area, if anyone is interested, but they are pretty short stories.

There's a huge shed (possibly behind?) where the lights were, but there's this huge ditch (now filled with mud because of recent heavy rain). It also appeared in the timespan of a few seconds (passed the window, no lights, grabbed a drink, went by and suddenly lights) so a car driving around the shed, getting in the muddy ditch, and turning to face my house directly in such a short time seems very implausible.

I didn't hear the actual car engine running, though I admit I had a tv running on the other end of the house quietly, so it might have drowned out the car engine. It was 2, maybe 3 doors opening and closing, I know that. You do have a point, I would think I'd hear an engine before I heard a door opening and closing, unless it was slammed shut hard.
