Here's a theory for you.

The cargo shifted in the holds, causing the ship to heel to one side. The crew wasn't able to stabilize it, so the ship capsized and sank. Nothing paranormal needed to happen.

Some news articles today were saying that two crewmen were found in a lifeboat and that while it was still afloat a crewman sent a text message saying the ship was taking on water.

One thing that can happen on the ocean floor is that huge algae growths can have massive amounts of little bubbles caught in their fibers. If something disturbed one part of it then it cascades into a massive release of bubbles looking like several football fields worth of fizzy coca cola foam rising from the ocean floor. If the boat motors triggered this release then in seconds the ship could fall through several hundred feet of foam to suddenly find itself under water. No radio call for help.. Nothing.
