"(...) The Necromancer runs into a dilemma while using these essences, however. Regardless how one may try, the fact of the matter is that even Necromancers are living breathing human beings. As such, not even the seasoned practitioner can escape the baneful effects that these energies have on the body. Advanced aging, hair loss, sallow skin, and a gaunt complexion are all traits which are associated (in varying degrees) with the seasoned practitioner. Though the effects may only manifest as internal pains, as well, the fact is that to gain power in this art requires that suffering be present. The Necromancer's sacrifice for power is often scorned or considered madness, but for the practitioner it is worth the pain. To gather a sufficient sum of energy, the pain of the Necromancer's own suffering is channelled into a Necromantic Curse, or into a Servitor Summoning. These two components are the basis of every Necromantic spell. Traditionally, the entire art of Necromancy has been broken down into these two branches. The most infamous aspect of necromancy, without doubt, is the creation of phantasmals and undeads. The less flashy but more used aspect is the direct application of the death essences in curses, the imbuement of fetishes, and the decrepitation of organic entities. Addressing the problem of personal decrepidation, however, there rose a spin-off skill of necromancy: vampiric magic."

>about Death Essence

"(...) There are several ways to attune with death energies and death essence. Death meditations, in which the necromancer goes into a corpse like state and enters a trance to which the ethereal body leave the physical anchor. Contemplating one’s own death is also a crucial step in death meditations as it symbolically acts as a form of death. Another method is to spend time around death energies, graveyards, tombs or other places in which a large amount of deceased are present, a venue in which a battle in a war took place may also be a viable option. The use of bones and blood, spending time around them and using the senses to tune in with these things can aid in attunement. The more one attunes with death energies the strong the connection to those energies will be when going into other necromantic practices. When the attunement process starts to reach depth lower world shamanic journeys and spontaneous trips to the underworld may become present in a necromancers practice. Like all spiritual practices there is a process to which the practitioner goes through before heading into more advanced rituals, ceremonies and practices and without laying down the right foundations success later on may be harder to gain."

"To be a necromancer one needs to accept death and not fear it. One also needs to have reverence for death and not be insensitive to it – a life, is a life, is a life after all – not matter how seemingly small. We will all die. Everything will die. The entire Universe will come to an end one day. It is easier to forget that and push it aside in our squeamish age of modern medicine with death and suffering hidden behind sterilized doors. So much easier than those who lived during the black plague, the worst smallpox outbreaks, and the bloody massacres of battles without long-distance weapons. So much easier than the times of our ancestors who had to hunt, kill, gut, and clean animals for their own food, who watched executions, and who had to wash and prepare the bodies of their own dead loved ones for burial.

Interesting stuff op.

I came in to discuss the material from the Tomekeeper's Library, but you already posted it. I used to practice the methods he describes years ago. I didn't find as much use for it, so I stuck to other applications of direct magic.
