>>18821188
shit like this is what makes me believe in the Mandela Effect
there's no way an /x/ junkie of 7+ years such as myself can manage to be here since 2010 and yet never hear of this term or see of it. and yet here it is, in my existence now. "Holotropic breathwork." Holy fuck so cool

Holotropic Breathwork™
>>18821444
Hello psychic friend, I believe you. The triple fours don't lie.
As someone who's been flung into their psychic ability, do you have any suggestions on managing to keep it all in? Psychicly, mentally. To be honest, a good link would suffice.
>>18821188
That is a better biological explanation for how I have heard breatharian describe their practices.

plz hlp I'm part of the hive
>>18822011
You don't know what a hivemind is, faggot.
lurk moar
So it's basically just Westernized pranayama?
I tried using this technique a few years back. Probably did it successfully 4-5 times. It was cool I guess but I'd rather just eat some shrooms or something. I have asthma so it made this sort of thing more difficult. That's why I stopped pursuing it.
>>18822349
Can you get to those states of mind by using pranayama?
>>18822565
Would you recomend it ?
I'm thinking about going to a workshop.
so its what wim hof does to be able to subject himself to freezing temperatures for hours
>>18825398
i think that is more similar to meditation than to this kind of breathing
How do you do this?
>>18825810
"The process itself uses very simple means: it combines accelerated breathing with evocative music in a special set and setting. With the eyes closed and lying on a mat, each person uses their own breath and the music in the room to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness. "
How would it be compared with an isolation tank ?
>>18825986
Poorly, they are very different experiences.

A good book on holotropic breathwork?
How to Be Psychic: Eat porridge at the foot of a suburban guru you paid inordinate amounts of money to teach you how to hyperventilate.
Yeah OP, do the workshop. Do it twice. It'll really clear up that problem you have with the weight of your wallet.
>>18827270
you could always just do it yourself couldn't you?
>>18825398
It's not Wim Hof uses tummo meditation not holotropic breathing. Look it up.
>>18827367
so what's the difference between the two methods? I can't tell. they seem like they're describing the same thing to me.
>>18827711
also, both tummo and 'holotropic breathwork' sound like the 'rebirthing' that bob frissell writes about
>>18823484
never ever go to workshops. youre just throwing money down the drain or better put, at some pseudo guru .
Oh and btw, on topic, its basically controlled hyperventilation
Just normal breathing like you do in meditation will serve just fine.
Just fucking meditate guys. its vital to our health. meditation can be anything. I feel like im meditating when i work in the garden with plants and the like, i dont even know what im doing at teh moment but im doing it right and good.

Probably really unhealthy.

It's developer, Stanislov Grof, was one of the most prominent and respected psychedelic researchers of all time... and you've never heard of him?!
He developed holotropic breathwork as an alternative to psychedelics because it produces a very similar effect. It's also called connected breathing or circular breathing and is essentially the same breathing pattern used in rebirthing.
>>18822349
No.
>>18829932
That's because it can release subconscious traumas. You need to breathe through them to clear them from your psyche.
It's very simple to do. Here is how:
Make the inhalation forceful, relax the exhalation - as if you are gasping for breath. Pay close attention to what you're doing and try to ensure that there are no pauses between the inhalation and the exhalation. It can be done fast or slow, with either deep breathing or shallow. Faster and deeper produce more intense experiences. If you feel that whatever is happening is too intense for you (and it CAN get to feeling pretty wild!), then slow it down a bit or breathe more shallowly (or both).
That's it in a nutshell. All the little extras that make up Holotropic Breathwork proper are just "set and setting" affects from Grof's psychedelic days. The main technique of connected breathing can be done without them.
