if you want to deconstruct it into math terms:
pi you know
r is typically radius or position vector
i is imaginary (square root of -1)
t is time

if you take the sin of these combined terms, you get nothing useful as far as i can tell.

it should be noted that sin(n) decomposes into:
(e^(in)-e^(-in))/(1i)
in case anyone feels this rabbithole is worth chasing.
