I went back the next day and took a few pics of the area to give some visuals but no sign of the creature, I realised later that I had smelt a metallic scent when the event happened but only noticed when I went back to the scene, any information or guesses will help

Both were different, one was positive on the whole, the other was a warning not to continue with my work.

The positive one was the middle of the day in my yard. I was talking with my neighbors when everything went weirdly quite and we saw him walking across a my drive way. He looked at us for a second continued on his way. He vanished after crossing the driveway. My neighbors didn't take it vary well and won't talk about it.

The second encounter was with one similar to OP's. I was cleaning and cleaning the tree line with my wife. Everything went silent, I look at my wife and she look terrified. I looked around and there she was, white like a sun bleach dead tree, tall, and thin with black eyes. Just glaring at us, I simply said "I had no idea, forgive the intrusion we shall stop." And calmly headed back to the house.

As a Carpenter, I'll tell you that metric system sucks for measurements.

I live in Canada and although we use the metric system in construction we still use feet and inches, unless we are working on a government job.

So since I do work with both metric and feet and inches (imperial?) I can honestly say that imperial is much better for taking measurements.

When it comes to measuring liquids and weights metric may be good. ( I prefer using pounds to kilograms though), but for construction the metric system sucks ass.

I noticed a couple of comments about fae being tree like and it triggered a memory.

I'm known as the conspiracy guy at work so I get laughed at when I talk my shit on breaks but when I'm alone working with people they open up to me and tell me about weird experiences they've had.

I was working with this one guy who is really into hunting and is a real outdoors man and he came up to me and told me that one time while hunting with his kids one time, his kids went out for a walk by themselves and they came across a talking tree. I think he said there was two of them.
The kids went and got him and they all went back to the spot the tree had talked to the kids and the trees were gone but there was just two holes in the ground.

The one thing he mentioned though was that the tree called itself a "Mugwhomp"

He told me this maybe 15 years ago and every once in a while I'll try and do searches on this but I've never found anything about them and nobody I've talked to has ever heard of a mugwhomp.

Would this mugwhomp be one of the fae's you mentioned?

Has anyone else ever heard the term mugwhomp before?
