Has anyone here read Foucalt's Pendulum?

I tried to read Name of the Rose, but I couldn't invest myself in it.
Too much arbitrary discussion on meaningless shit. Is this any better?
I get the Stephen King vibe from this guy, interesting premise, but very poorly executed.

This one is really good, his best novel, in my opinion. Not the easiest read, I admit.
It's still going to have loads of information, loads of lists and descriptions, but pretty much all of them are going to be about the occult, secret societes, conspiracies throughout the ages and so on. Considering we're on /x/, I'd say that's the sort of information that would interest you.
In the grand scheme of things the point of this book is to deconstruct all those things and show them to be lacking, but the book goes very in-depth into all the theories and how they came about, evolved, interconnected and so on. In the later parts of the book the characters even start making a conspiracy of their own, connecting loads of things together in a logical believable pattern, pretty much demonstrating how the process works.
I think it's a great book for both skeptic and believer, as long as both are drawn to the topics themselves.

Eco admitted he deliberately wrote the first of the pendulum as unreadable as possible because he thought he was becoming too mainstream. Elitist faggot that he is.

Yep, Cortazar did the same with 42 model to construct.
This have been in my backlog from a while I read his novel Niebla, that was the inspiration for Morrison's animal man finale.

Lucky for you little Millennial there's a film, with a pretty steamy sex scene in it. Watch that.

I wonder how would Pendulum look in movie form, if somehow it wouldn't get fucked up.

I'm afraid it'd just be Da Vinci Code Part 9
