Why do ghosts always wear clothes?

I think that if there were to be a scientific explanation of ghosts, it would have to do with someone causing an "imprint" in time and space, or perhaps a brief cross-connection of different universes in the multiverse. So you would see that person as they are/were in life, and it might explain why the can sometimes alter our physical world. Just my theory, I'm no expert.

maybe it's not actually clothes but some other distortion of color/light/darkness values that the eye is interpreting as clothing, the way the brain fills in gaps with what it decides is most likely, like reading sentences without vowels, and the little minor inconsistencies of everyday memories.

A few years ago I saw a 10 year old girl in a party dress skip down my hallway and into the bathroom. I can describe the dress down to the material. The dress even "clicked" against the rough wooden door as she entered the bathroom, and the door closed behind her. She was also barefoot.

It wasn't a see-through mist like in movies, it was a real physical actual girl in a dress. I chased her, thinking it was an intruder, but there was nobody there. lol

I always thought.. ah well, I've seen a fucking ghost. This'll be a good story to tell. But the more I think about it the less sense it makes.

Well I always thought that a person's souls appearance would be based on how the individual perceives themselves, and since people wear clothes for most of their lives, their ghosts take the form they associate with themselves.

Then there are the ones who appear they way they looked in the moment they died. Those are more likely to be naked, whether because of murder-rape or just slipping in the shower. I think I'd prefer to see the first type.
