I think people may be underestimating the scale of this leak, the CIA has been thoroughly btfo, and the age of secure information is openly 100% dead

>CIA basically turned all internet enabled consumer electronics in the world into listening devices
>has compromised every major operating system, Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, even Linux distros and Cisco routers
>also consumer gadgets like iPhones, Androids, gaming consoles, and Smart TVs
>able to bypass encryption software Tor, whatsapp, etc, possibly virtual boxes, even spread malware through the normal use of CDs and USB drives
>exploits in lots of popular applications like VLC, Skype ( conversations are converted to text in real time )
>any of these devices / software can monitor network traffic, use keyloggers, secretly monitor webcams, and record through microphones, even if they appear off
>All of this information can be automatically scanned for sensitive material and stored on their network for later review
>they even looked into remote control chips in cars, trucks, planes, medical devices and hospital tech with assassination potential
>they have techniques to leave "footprints" of these attacks to make them appear to originate elsewhere ( Russia, China, etc. )
>U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt is a covert CIA hacker base, allows agents easy travel access to entire Schengen region for further espionage
>CIA has been spent now wasted billions collecting these zero day (widely undiscovered / undetectable) exploits
>potentially all of this code has been leaked, giving any state / entity / edgy teenager the entire hacking arsenal of the CIA
>>
all I gathered from this is I think I should delete VLC from my PC
>>
I've just read through it, sadly there's nothing that important in the "leak", don't bother wasting your time.

Ive only heared that these have been possibly escaped CIA's hands but have they seriously been leaked to anyone possible yet?
>>
>>18741343
The leak came from former paid CIA hackers and contractors. It had been circulating among them and who knows who else for a while, and then shared with Wikileaks. I honestly dont know specifics of what code has been leaked, but its out there. Maybe Assange is holding onto some of it to use as leverage to keep from getting killed

I think one of the things that these spying means for normal folks is that if they want to go on and be something succesful if in buisness or become relevant in politics you can be Blackmailed with shit you look up online, things you have talked about and footage of you jacking off or anything in front of your PC's webcam.

Anyone who wants to become relevant from our generation in politics can be turned into a puppet for the CIA by possibly exposing damning footage on them.

This. The whole "I dont care because I have nothing to hide" thing is such bullshit because its subject to circumstance. It's also making the assumption that less fortunate people with things to hide are unimportant. Theres also the whole matter of principle of having your rights trampled all over as well. And the jaded "I figured that was the case" is equating a suspicion with proof and the method, which has so much more impact, its a fucking /x/ conspiracy made manifest! Stop fapping over tulpas and succubi, they can see you!

>>18741582
And were still being flooded with these bot comments. Like the CIA anticipated something compromising, but didnt know what specifically, so they just scripted some bots to say "just dont read it lol" instead of anything of substance

There was some sort of failure in security and I hope it's been clamped down on by now. I also hope that a lesson is learned from this and that not too much damage was done. I have no idea why they didn't nip Wikileaks in the bud when they had the chance last Fall. I'm assuming there might have been an assumption of centralized figurehead leadership when now it might be apparent it's decentralized.
>>
>>18741711

>>
>>18741737
Fuck off, it's not working. And next time don't say /x/enonaut, it gives you away more easily

>>18741711
Like others have stated in the thread the apparent breach in security came from former paid CIA hackers. They were passing the information and code around. I dont think its clear what specific code has been released, but now that it's out of the CIAs hands it can be passed on to pretty much anyone, giving them the same power
>>
>>18741737
A. I'm certain that WL has more leaks since they have a habit of releasing them over a period of time.
B. Streisand Effect or something similar is very real and only resolves people who see outright dismissals of leaked information and confirms there's something to be seen. I've seen this happen on websites I monitor. Blame the tactics being overdone by idiots like CTR. It's time to research new HUMINT info suppression tactics, although I'm sure you're just yet another Anonymous.

Use a virtual machine running a weird OS. You can take your pick of puppy distros, while many go on about shit like tails, puppy is insanely secure and is legitimately a project of love rather than shilled unsecure shit.

There's another os that's meant to be great for super secure yet flexible routers that sandboxes everything and only loads drivers as needed but I forget the name. That's another option.
>>
>>18741383
Anyone who says it's nothing now and in the next couple of days is lying. There's no way to know until you do a thorough analysis and those take time. Even then it's possible to miss something. These massive dumps are notoriously hard to look through too.

Inb4 someone could use their workplace resources (like Deutsche Bank servers or something). You'd get told to clear your desk out and get blacklisted from working p much anywhere.

I don't see the point in semi open sourcing something. At least not exactly. Where the security compromises came in seems to be where Linux, especially Ubuntu, became incredibly shit and stagnated. Ubuntu had better eye candy by far than windows 10 years ago. Then suddenly one year we had a bunch of devs locking out choices like power management shit claiming it was clever design choice to stop people trying to spend too long customizing everything and getting butthurt when people called them stupid. That happened at the same time systemd got pushed forward despite it being a monolithic shit. Then gradually design and vision stagnated despite google summer of codes and the systems became less stable and flexible with forced systemd. A really big thing systemd did was fucking up drm shit on linux for streaming btw. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it turned out microsoft were involved here.

There are some fundamentally different ways to build an OS and kernel. I think that level of design is really where we're going to get answers. Not in close sourcing shit.

they secretly added ecoli to gmo
now whats ecoli ? little ufos (a virus)
then they secretly swapped corn syrup for ecoli gmo corn syrup

so every soda pop, cake, cookie, donut, cereal has ecoli virus/little ufos in it

and the vaccines are little ufos

upping the average americans dosage of little ufos 10000% or more

and 1 year here, in your smalls is 10000 years, so they bread millions of ayys

and vaccines are little ufos too

If I can blend in at age 13 with no one knowing I was underaged ban (25 now) then there's no excuse for such a sloppy attempt at disinfo or sweeping it under the rug.

I'm more disappointed in how lazy the government is at covering things up apparently than the fact that they're listening in on our conversations (Which we already knew about. The only concerning thing is if that info is really in the wrong hands and what someone can do with it.

Like shit if you wanna spy on a sad 25 year old and her husband as we coo over how cute our animals are, get stoned on legal weed, and bitch about donald Trump's toupee and pretty much nothing of real interest or value, be my guest on wasting those funds and resources endangering the information of your own citizens because....Fucking why exactly? considering wikileaks has always been a limited hangout for the CIA, it stands to reason that they are leaking this right now for a reason (especially after teasing it along for so long)

what a dumb fuck comment. it's information that can be used against u anytime anywhere. like the other commenter said, if you happen to become anything the goverment doesn't like or rebel in anyway they will use that info to fuck you over. Try using your head for something besides a hat rack.

I've just downloaded it and there isnt anything substantial in there, my Anti Virus detected something, would recommend not downloading it just to be safe.

Didn't they release the same thing with TEMPORA back in '12? Remember? Everyone just shrugged it off and kept doing their thing.

You're basically saying they leak stuff every so often. Yes grandad, TEMPORA was 2012. That was Snowden's leaks. Remember?

>>18746262
I just don't see much of a difference between these and Snowden's leaks. So far, anyway. When will WL finally do us the courtesy of chopping everything into bits and feeding it to us like baby birds?

>Has WikiLeaks already 'mined' all the best stories?

>No. WikiLeaks has intentionally not written up hundreds of impactful stories to encourage others to find them and so create expertise in the area for subsequent parts in the series. They're there. Look. Those who demonstrate journalistic excellence may be considered for early access to future parts.

Think of it like an ARG that actually matters maybe? It's like the good version of "I just found this weird file on my computer"

This sounds so much like something I'd say that I wonder if I didn't give advice on here once.

One thing that may be major is the unreleased HORNET parts. That is going to become a big deal (maybe not now) by being a part of the backbone of all internet traffic everywhere along with a few other tehnologies. It's like a fast TOR, the argument for using it was to prevent ebil gubments like Iran spying on their citizens p much.

Also interesting to read about them using TrueCrypt maliciously, if you remember that shut down suddenly but seemed to have no security holes. And that they used gedit and IDEs (fucking casuals, would love to see a /g/ reaction to that).

Anyone remember Michael Hastings? It's confirmed from Vault 7 that the CIA has the ability to remotely trigger car crashes.

>Richard Clark after the Hastings crash:

>“There is reason to believe that intelligence agencies for major powers” — including the United States — know how to remotely seize control of a car. “So if there were a cyber attack on the car — and I’m not saying there was,” Clarke added, “I think whoever did it would probably get away with it....in the case of Michael Hastings, what evidence is available publicly is consistent with a car cyber attack."

Hold on. I thought wikileaks was compromised and taken over by the CIA late last year? Why would they leak their own information that incriminates them and shows them partaking in malicious activities to surveillance people? If this is the case then what could they possibly gain from doing this?

This man is definitely CIA.
There is not a single doubt in my mind Alex Jones is a paid shill, they've done it before and he checks all the boxes. My guess is Bohemian Grove is fairly benign so they let him "break" that story to lend him credibility and have been telling him what shit to say ever since.

Downloading it's fine. The torrent is identical to the site though so you could also crawl the WL webpages I think.

And yes it's all safe. How they were hacking everything is interesting and clever in it's own way, but they weren't 1337 h4x0r5 by any means either. No little ghost robots jumping out your screen.becaise you opened a picture there. Hell, most of it's internal office shit. Why'd you give your coworker a computer virus?

Oh wait, this is the organization where they spiked each other with LSD.on the reg. I guess that's fun though.
