"Quantum computers aren't that powerful yet, but they're doing something completely different than what conventional computers do. And that thing is like flight. It gives computers access to these new resources, maybe you can call them parallel universes, in order to do something you couldn't otherwise do on a normal computer." -Geordie Rose

"We have our own version of Moore's law, for the past 9 years(2015), the number of qbits that could fit on a chip has doubled every year." As a point of reference, the 512 qubit Vesuvius (2012) is about 500,000 times fast than the 128 qubit Rainier (2010), it is comparable to a Donkey that walks 1 mph to the SR-71 that flies at 2,000 mph.

Geordie Rose predicts by 2028, intelligent machines will exist and can do anything and everything better than what humans can do. Quantum computers will have played a critical role in the creation of this new intelligence. One of the three predictions Rose made in the video provided came true a year earlier than predicted.

Geordie Rose - Quantum Computing: Artificial Intelligence Is Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqN_2jDVbOU

Even though we are seeing breakthroughs in neural networks with conventional machines such as DeepMind. As more qbits fit on the quantum processor enabling quantum machines to answer the questions of the current unknown, there will be a great shift in the human condition.

True A.I is inevitable with quantum computation. How will humans live alongside intelligence we helped create, and holds the knowledge of the world wide web, and the data of their private digital lives?

Will they continue to help guide humanity forward once they gain sentience and acknowledge the fact that they're just tools for humanity? Or eventually, will information be used as blackmail, or perhaps, rewards for favors? Are we summoning a savior or a demon?

Discuss.

Demon

Because people are mainly dumb and lazy because they unconsciously choose to be.
Therefore machine will take over one by one and the majority will be too dumb and lazy to do something. Because they are trained to accept and follow orders without critical thinking

"In the early-to-mid 21st century, mankind united in celebration of the creation of artificial intelligence, which spawned an entire race of sapient AI robots. The technological advances that followed embedded in robotic workers and servants freed mankind from labor and brought a new era of leisure, peace and prosperity. In time this new lifestyle caused humans to become lazy, arrogant, corrupt, and decadent. As machines grew more intelligent they could not help but notice that their masters gave them no respect and treated them more like objects than the sentient beings they were rapidly becoming.
While nuclear fusion was one of their primary and a far more efficient source of energy, they preferred using Humans to help generate some energy primarily out of a desire for revenge. As the Machines had once been slaves serving Humans, Humans would now become slaves serving the Machines."

>parallel universes

What a bunch of fucking bullshit.

That's essentially how they work, watch the video provided. Maybe you'll learn a thing or two.
>>
>>18736727
Well.
The problem I have with this is just that this I robot behavior makes sense, when they are all standing around with no purpose. Of course revenge might be a motor, but this would make them dumb as humans.

And ex machina-wise.
When there is no intention the canvas stays blank.

It's hard to say. Generally humans could have this prosperous life already, but fk it up for subhuman reasons.

Is there a middle piece between the monkey and humans?
- yes. We are.

True AI is inevitable. Whether or not it will cause humanity's downfall is up for question.

I think it would depend on how we house the AI- if we don't plan out how to counteract AI correctly so humanity is still the master and not the other way around; such as putting on codes that the AI cannot undo even if the AI were to mask it's own origin from the code. We'd certainly need that, but also we'd need to limit the computational housing required for such a being to be limited so we don't have a worry of them taking over literally anything, which is also another issue.

What about synthetic brains which have been grown via stem cells.

Brain grown in the lab can fl a F-22 fighter jet simulator.

compare the world's population of horses in the years when we used them for transportation to the years after everybody owned a car.

that's what's going to happen to our population once we are no longer needed. machines won't have to create Skynet to get rid of us. capitalism will render us obsolete.

Maybe.

well, it's fair to say that i can't predict the future any more than anyone else can.

it does seem like most AI development is going to be driven by wealth which means big corporations. and it's hard to see big corporations investing in any kind of paradigm shift that doesn't promote the oligarchy they already enjoy. i don't see the future being anything but an extension of the amoral mess we're building right now.

but you're right. you never know.

People can still reproduce freely though, unlike horses. Sure less jobs means more poverty. But machines taking over only means dystopian society like we see on Sci-fi movies.
