Never seen a moon before.

Or go outside, in this case it will also work.

Same thing that happens with a magnifying glass

Sun light is being magnified onto the moon, causing it to shine.

Anyone can explain this. The sun reflects off of the moon. That's all you are seeing. It's part of the rotation.

I could also call it a 'mysterious floating sun like weird thing' or something but I like the term sun dog better. Don't be so triggered man, the fact that its on wikipedia doesn't mean it's a 'normal' phenomenon or anything. People have been mystified by sun dogs for millenia and they still are. Like so many things, the mystery is just shrouded in scientific sounding language nowadays.

I've heard several contradicting opinions and i'm curious of what you think.

It makes perfect sense in the geocentric model.

How? The sun is shining on the moon and the moon is reflecting it back to us.

>>
>>18731370
The sun is down and the moon is up. That means it's night time. It's not day and night.

The horizon is still light because the sun is just below the horizon.

This is what happens at sunset. Anybody can see this, at any latitude. Go outside on a clear night and watch the sunset. Yes, that would mean going outside.
>>
>>18731202
Man I wish the moon was in a different phase in this clip, it would have been the nail in the coffin for the globe model.

To all globers: on the solar eclipse in August, thousands of powerful cameras (for example Nikon P900, 83x optical zoom) will be pointed to the sky.

This will be the day when the heliocentrism will fall, because during the eclipse the Moon will be visible waay off from the sun, in a different part of the sky.

Expect heavy chemtrails all over the US on 8/21, but hopefully they will fail to cover everything.

>>
>>18732292
>because during the eclipse the Moon will be visible waay off from the sun, in a different part of the sky.

Well yes. If you're not in the path of the eclipse, the moon won't cover the sun. For the millions of people who are in the path, it will. Fortunately for me, I'll be right in the center.

And yes, there will be thousands of pictures. And when you put them all together, taking notice of their angles, longitude, latitude, etc. it will all be more proof of round earth.

>chemtrails

You mean contrails, anon. Airplanes will behave as normally.

>>
>>18732351
Wow, specular reflection off the ocean. Never seen that before.

>>18732359
Contrails can dissipate instantly or last for many hours, depending on humidity and temperature and barometric pressure.

As different altitudes have different humidities, temperatures, and pressures, contrails can have different durations in the same sky, which is what you're seeing in your video.

Indeed, this has always happened as long as airplanes have existed.

Being surprised by this is kinda like being shocked that the moon can sometimes be out during the day time. Very stupid.

Places on the Earth north of 66.5 degrees will never see the part of the ecliptic that is in Sagittarius (even though some parts of the constellation that are above the declination of -23.5 degrees may be seen depending on the latitude of the place). Hence, if you are at a latitude of say 80 degrees, the Sun will be above the sky all day during summer and the Moon will never rise during full moon.

However, the Moon's orbit is inclined to the ecliptic by about 5 degrees which is the reason why we do not see a solar eclipse during every new moon. Hence at latitudes close to 66.5 degrees, one might be able to see the Sun and the full moon for a very short time simultaneously if the geometry of the Moon is just right. However, the Sun and the full moon will be on opposite portions of the sky and so nobody will be able to photograph it unless there is an exceptional camera that can take a picture of the entire sky.

The train's destination is not above the ground, but rather far away, and perspective means that the tracks appear not to be parallel but instead to converge to the vanishing point.

The same applies to the beams of light above them. The Sun is very far away and the beams are pretty much parallel, but they're pointing towards you, and perspective makes them appear to converge towards the vanishing point - which in this case is the Sun's location in the sky

you fucking idiot it literally shows how on a micro scale how light waves travel through slits on a perpendicular plane, the same scale applies when the distance and disproportion between sun and the earth is so huge that the vectors of light are basically parallel, with the addition of the higher atmosphere acting like a polarisator. If the Earth is flatarded, how do you explain time zones? Bunch of faggots you lot!!!
>>
>>18734337
time is a social construct :^)
>>
>>18734379

Yes, this most places have different time zones because of how the place operates and when the sun is there or not.

Just because it is dark in area and not the other doesn't mean "Glub earth hur hur" that is poor logic and a straw man argument that I have seen too many times.

I have only recently been pilled about the flat earth and never really looked into this stuff but now I do. The evidence is astounding.
>>
>>18734399
If the earth were flat, the sun would either be up everywhere, or down everywhere.
>>
>>18734399

>The evidence is astounding

Astoundingly non existant.
>>
>>18734399
But if the earth is a flat plane, as soon as the sun was above the horizon, it would be visible everywhere, regardless of where you were on said plane. Saying it could be dark in one area and light in another on a flat earth, to me seems like poor logic.
So, if you've seen my argument too many times, how bout offering up some evidence to refute it instead of tip toeing around it by labelling it a straw man argument.
I'm open minded and would be the first to admit I was wrong if proven to be so..... Enlighten me

>>
>>18734428
>>18734510
No, the sun rotates above the flat earth.
it's a lot smaller than you think..
>>
>>18734629
In order for the small/close sun of the flat earth model to fit with our observations of the sun throughout the day, it would either have to move in a parabola centered over the specific point of reference, or physically shrink and grow as it gets closer and then further away from that reference point. Otherwise, it would appear to grow massively until midday and then shrink down to nothing. Obviously this can't be what's happening, because from only a few miles away this kind of movement would appear extremely erratic.

Additionally, the sun is extremely bright. That's painfully obvious to anyone who has ever seen it. Regardless of how small it is, that intensity of light would be clearly visible from extremely long distances. It wouldn't just become invisible because it's a hundred or so miles away, unless there was some other feature that blocked light from reaching the "night" side of the planet, which again, would make for a wildly inconsistent appearance from different vantage points.
>>

You usually can't see the moon in the sky during the day because the sun is too bright for it to be seen, but it can be there.

I happened to notice this afternoon that there was a half-moon in the sky at around 4pm while the sun was still quite high. Now, I understand that you'll tell me that the shaded side of the Moon has to do with the vantage point the Earth has in relation to the Sun's illumination of the Moon, but that's can't actually be what's going on here, right? I mean, the Moon is a half-moon long after the Sun has gone down, right? We only observe a small segment of change in the moon's shadow over 24 hours, right? All the while the Sun is setting, the Earth is spinning, the Moon is orbiting, all kinds of things are happening in this time, right? What am I missing here?

Pic related but I didn't take it. Found it on google.
>>
>>18735257
That's a retarded explanation and you know it. The sun is meant to have a diameter of 1,392,000 km, some hundred times that of the Earth. Its rays are meant to be parallel by the time they reach the Earth because of how long they're supposed to have traveled. Yet we're meant to believe that in a picture where the Suns rays obviously originate at a very local point in the sky, that this is just perspective in the same way that train tracks seem to grow narrower in the distance? That's just stupid as fuck. We should be getting blasted equally at every point of whatever side of the Earth is facing the sun. Of course this would also mean that Antarctica should melt every time its supposed tilt puts it in the way of this sunbath.

That "obviously local point in the sky" would probably have planes fucking crashing into the sun all the time. And again, you run into the same issue outlined in >>18734680

Here's an image taken from a plane of the same phenomenon, but from a reverse perspective. If these divergent rays were caused by the sun being as close as you say, it should still look like the rays are spreading out as they near the ground. Instead, the opposite happens, for the same reason: parallel rays of light seem to converge in the distance.
>>
>>18735673
This.
People need to look more at the sky.

When a half or crscent moon is up in the sky in the daytime, that is the only proof you need that the moon phases(and moon eclipses) are not caused by the earth's shadow.

Therefore, the whole heliocentric model should be questioned.
>>
File: moon phases.jpg (26KB, 550x495px) Image search: [Google]
moon phases.jpg
26KB, 550x495px
>>18735735
The earth's shadow obviously doesn't cause moon phases. That's the explanation parents give their children when they don't know how it actually works. The whole idea is ridiculous for a number of reasons. First of all, obvious and fairly common phenomena as in >>18735673 show that it can't be the case. Secondly, how could a spherical earth possibly cast a shadow that would cause the gibbous phases of the moon? The earth's shadow only falls on the moon during lunar eclipses.

The actual phases of the moon are caused by the relative angle of light from the sun hitting the moon from an observer on earth. Handy graphic attached.
>>
>>18735647
>Human are special
>Prove to me that we're not.

Your personal opinion and world view doesn't have any relevance for me. The number of people (parents, children, friends) to whom your opinion matters at all is, compared to the number of people on earth, nearly zero for all practical purposes. So, at least (you) are not special.

For all the peopel participating in this debate there are a few "experiments" that we need done.

First a high altitude balloon like the ones they use for the no curvature vids. If you launch that shit in antarctica, at several different hours of the day we would have good info on the sun's movements and possible insights into the existence of the firmament.

Then you will need to take a map of that place which we all agree on, and follow that map to the center, both the center of the earth axis and the center of the earth if the axis weren't tilted.
All landmarks present on the map should be photographed in order to prove your location.

The whole journey documented on film, with compass direction, sun location, star location etc.

Obvioulsy a cheeky GPS but I don't know to what extent is that shit trustworthy.

If you manage to cross antarctica right through the previously mentioned points and not just walk along the "circular" antarctica then that's a good indication of a ball earth.

There will be many many more questions to be answered so you should organise this propperly and be loud about it. Not too loud though because you don't wan't attention from those who will ultimately shut your shit down and sink your boat and pretend you died in a storm or some shit while actually just executing you.

It is part of the natural physics of water and other fluids to always find their level and remain flat.

If disturbed in any way, motion ensues until the flat level is resumed.
If dammed up then released, the nature of all liquids is to quickly flood outwards taking the easiest course towards finding its new level.

If the Earth is an extended flat plane, then this fundamental physical property of fluids finding and remaining level is consistent with experience and common sense.

If, however, the Earth is a giant sphere tilted on its vertical axis spinning through never-ending space then it follows that truly flat, consistently level surfaces do not exist here!

Moreover, if the Earth is spherical then it follows that the surface of all Earth’s water, including the massive oceans, must maintain a certain degree of convexity.

But this is contrary to the fundamental physical nature of water to always be and remain level!

I think you fail to grasp that there is no universal "down"

If all water is accelerating towards the center of the Earth, then it is level when all point of the (incredibly gradual) curve are an equal distance from the center of the Earth.

And you initial claim that "water always finds in level" is plainly false. What about water tension? or the fact that water forms a sphere in zero g conditions?

Do you disagree with any of this?

Then you have a much cheaper and easier way to prove the inaccuracy of our gravity model. No need to charter a trip to Antarctica.

https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/bathymetry/predicted/explore.HTML
>The surface of the ocean bulges outward and inward mimicking the topography of the ocean floor. The bumps, too small to be seen, can be measured by a radar altimeter aboard a satellite. Over the past year, data collected by the European Space Agency ERS-1 altimeter along with recently declassified data from the US Navy Geosat altimeter have provided detailed measurements of sea surface height over the oceans. These data provide the first view of the ocean floor structures in many remote areas of the Earth.

Maps like pic related are made by measuring the effect gravity has on the ocean. The ocean is actually NOT flat and level (not even counting waves), and the water will "bunch up" where there is more mass under the surface.

But IF gravity is fake and all of this is wrong, then you should be able to go to one of these areas where the only data we have is from satellites and show how the map doesn't match reality.

We're all eagerly waiting for you to prove the scientists wrong. I hope you hurry.

Sorry, went with wrong pic. Here's a map of the ocean floor made through measuring the bumps due to gravity on the surface of the ocean.

If gravity is fake and water "always remains flat" then these maps should be horribly wrong. All it would take is to go where the only data we have is from satellites and see if it matches up.

This doesn't make any sense. During an eclipse, the moon is directly in front of the sun from the point of view of those in the area of totality, blocking the sun's light and negating any potential outshining. Why, then, if it was luminescent on its own, would it fail to produce even the faintest sliver of its own light during these periods? Why is there only light from the corona of the sun visible?
>>

http://moocs.southampton.ac.uk/oceans/2014/10/04/mapping-the-deep-and-the-real-story-behind-the-95-unexplored-oceans/

We have mapped the entire ocean floor to a resolution of about 5km using the satellite altimetry detailed above.

We can use ship-mounted sonar for more accuracy, but it takes longer and covers less area. With sonar, we can get a resolution of about 100m. But we have only mapped about 10-20% of the ocean this way.

The most accurate is, of course, physically going down there with a robot or crew. But we've only been able to do this with less than .05% of the ocean.

That's just a cover of insulation. The door is further inside and opens inwards, not outwards. You could have just googled that if you were curious.

>bubbles in space

They're clearly not air bubbles in water. Air bubbles in water only go in one direction, and increase in volume as they rise. Those go every which way, and are just little dots, not expanding bubbles.

It's debris. Usually ammonia ice. Sometimes water ice. Sometimes it's bits of rocket exhaust. Sometimes flakes of paint.

>>
>>18736779
>the bubbles literally move exactly like bubbles do

Nope. Sometimes they move in similar directions but never all of them in the same direction. It doesn't look like water bubbles at all.

One of the things I love about conspiracy theorists is all incredibly dull and inattentive they are. Something will be right in front of their faces for years, and they'll not notice. But when they do finally noticed, they're shocked and act as if they're the first person to see it, and then, instead of investigating, they'll just make up wild ideas about it. For example: chemtrails.

>They are orbiting the earth at immense speeds and thats debris relaxed and floating away?

Yes. Are you expecting air resistance in the vacuum of space? It just drifts around, which is why they don't worry about it. Relative to the ISS, it is not moving at a fast speed.

Can you conceive of any eivdence that would actually change your mind?

What would you have to see to convince you that you are not viewing some forgery
>>
>>18736892
>saying shit like 'conspiracy theorists"

You're alleging a conspiracy between NASA, every engineer, astronomer, surveyor and so on who has ever existed in order to deceive people into believing the earth is round, when it's really flat.

You're a conspiracy theorist.

You even posted that chemtrail horseshit.

If you don't want people to call you a conspiracy theorist, stop being one.

>(specifically, a thread about the moon and the sun being visible at the same time)
What do you think the significance of this is?
>>
>>18736909
Not him, but if people haven't noticed the sun and moon in the sky in their lives than they're really incredibly inattentive.

Beyond people being so incredibly stupid, there's no significance to it.
>>
>>18736905
change my mind about the bubbles?
>>
>>18736916
>>18736909
I have noticed this many times in my life. I have no conclusion as to it's significance.

>you complain about being called a troll

Your claim: All ISS footage is a massive NASA conspiracy. It is filmed underwater. The proof is that, although NASA edited to footage to make it look like they are in space, there left several bubbles in the finished footage.

To refute this claim, I point out that the ISS is plainly visible. It can be seen by the naked eye on a clear night. Any amateur astronomer can see it in detail with the proper equipment.

Does that convince you that you are wrong?
>>
>>18736948
I thought I told you that I will look for sattelites with a telescope when I get the chance over summer. I'd like to see sattelites in general, not the ISS in particular (getting some shit that looks like the ISS to fly around isn't very difficult).
>>
>>18736956
>>18736956
You don't even need a telescope. Go to a dark place at night and you can predict exactly where it will streak across the sky.

Do you claim that EVERYBODY who has ever seen or photographed the ISS is lying to you?
>>
>>18736956
>getting some shit that looks like the ISS to fly around isn't very difficult
Hey look you did it again
"The evidence plainly points to this, but I bet its just another massive forgery. It makes much more sense that somebody is constantly flying a jet the size of a football field at 7 kilometers a SECOND without ever stopping to refuel."

And you wonder why people don't take you seriously.
>>
>>18736956
>getting some shit that looks like the ISS to fly around isn't very difficult
does that shit look remotely aerodynamic to you
>>

Again, how does this shadow move over the moon in a 28-day cycle when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in constant motion relative to each other?
>>
>>18736990
>aerodynamic
>in space
>>
>>18736994
I'm not sure I follow the question.

There's a side of the moon facing the sun. This is always lit. There's always a side of the moon facing away from the sun, this side is always in shadow.
>>
>>18736994
You're mistaken.

The phases of the Moon are not due to the Earth's shadow. It's just that, like the Earth, the Sun can only ever light half of the moon.

When the Sun in to the side of the moon, we see a half-moon
When the Sun is at an angle to the moon, we see a crescent moon
When the Sun is behind the moon, we see a new moon
When the Sun is in front of the moon, we see a full moon
>>
>>18737005
You're missing his point.

Flatfags claim that the "ISS" we see is just a jet
>>
>>18737013
No, I'm aware of that. Perhaps shadow was a poor choice of words but it is still that. The unlit part of the moon.

What you have failed to address is my question: I see a half-moon at 4pm, 12 hours later there is still a half-moon. Explain.
>>
>>18737051
The phases of the moon change once a month, anon. 12 hours once a month is not a large difference. The moon will be in the completely opposite position of the sky, because the earth's rotating quickly, but the phase of the moon will not be dramatically different. (it will be a little bit different).
>>
>>18736989
who the fuck takes anything seriously on 4chan?
>>
>>18737051
>I see a half-moon at 4pm, 12 hours later there is still a half-moon. Explain.
It takes roughly one month for the phases of the moon to complete a 360 degree circuit

That means that in 12 hours, you see about 1/60 of this cycle, or a 6 degree shift. Imperceptible to the naked eye.
>>
>>18737051
The phases change as the moon orbits the earth. The moon's position in the sky changes as the earth rotates. The moon is tidally locked to the earth and does not rotate, which is why we always see the same bits of it light or shadow.

Proof that gravity is holding the water into a bubble, no matter how big is the ball created by it around it's center of mass.
