Well the biggest reason I feel as to why we can't willingly travel through time is because A LOT of people would misuse their ability. Some would go back and change things of their own life without thinking... Every change made in the past is a change made in the future. Even a slight change would effect a lot of people.

Just as you can travel west to arrive east, so too can you travel forwards in order to arrive behind your starting point. Time is circular (or perhaps like a Möbius strip). The only issue is finding a way to survive long enough to reach such a point. Your best bet would be to find a way to speed up time for yourself.

Matter cannot physically travel back in time. Consciousness can, which is swapped between two individuals. We don't know how to do it yet but it is possible.
