He was there for most of my life, but there was a good big portion that we were both stripped of. He was pretty sensitive, like me. The last few years near the end he would always offer advice and sort of beg one of his children to call him often for it.

Funny moment: my pops had joint custody. We saw him every other weekend (I really looked forward to those weekends). We started watching skinimax one night with him. We watched like two or three soft core porn movies. The whole time he's demanding that the actress "fuck him good" and "take it all, honey", only to end every movie with a speech about how you have to be "in love" to have sex. Even when we were kids we thought it was hilarious.

Weird to a lot of folks, but that was my dad.

One time when we were really young visiting him, he promised the three of us new bikes. We knew he couldn't afford it, so we really didn't expect it. Two weeks later we all had new bikes. I miss him like crazy.
