What's bad is using black magic (see referenced above) to achieve these ends. It's bad karma in general, but it also opens you up to things we can't really comprehend completely, not to mention endangering what you could call a 'soul' or 'karma' or 'essense'. When you interact with creatures like this (bad spirits/demons) they never leave without a trace, you'll forever be on their radar.
Finally, it's always better to try and live as selflessly and contemplatively as possible.

Something to note about this: when you offer blood as a catalyst to a spell you're burning a little bit of your essence with a third party acting as the negotiator. The Bottle Protection Spell
