Oddly enough loneliness will be the biggest force of despair in it all. A sense of nihilistic dread and concern that eventually nothing matters. Learn that pity isn't a benefit. They will pay pretty close to the same. And by the time you coukd be "movin' on up" at the bigger company....you'd be at least over a year in. And after a year at tge smaller one, there will be no harm in leaving with the same experience to go to a larger company.

In short...the smaller one is the best one. You start soon. You get paid nearly the same. Annnd I think them being smaller, they will value you more as a person and an employee. Moving up will be harder. But you may not care. And if you do care...well find another job in about 2 years. After 2 years at the smaller one, you'd be able to outright apply for a higher "ranking" job in the same industry.
